Sir Martin Sorrell Confirmed for Inaugural iSportconnect Sponsorship Brands Masterclass

Terrence Burns Joins USA Luge Board of Directors

At the annual meeting of the USA Luge Board of Directors on Saturday, hospital Terrence Burns was introduced as the newest member of the Olympic organisation’s board by CEO Jim Leahy.

Burns is a managing director at Teneo Sport, a firm that deals with CEOs, guiding and consulting with them and their organisations in identifying and navigating global distractors.

Burns was also founder and President of Helios Partners and has a long history in Olympic marketing, bidding and international sports communications as a sponsor, as an executive for the IOC’s former marketing agency and as an advisor with his own agency.

“This final addition to our 11 member board gives the U.S. Luge Association the depth of experience and resource development necessary strategically to lead us to greater achievements as we look to (the Olympic Winter Games in) South Korea in 2018,” said Leahy.

Sao Paulo Announced as a Host City of Expanded IRB Women’s Sevens World Series

The International Rugby Board (IRB) has confirmed that Sao Paulo will be a host city of the expanded Women’s Sevens World Series for 2013-14.

The new series hopes to capitalise on a successful debut season by hosting rounds across the world, starting on November 28 in Dubai and taking in Atlanta, Guangzhou, Amsterdam and now Sao Paulo.

Sao Paulo will be played February 21-22, falling in between Atlanta (February 15-16) and Guangzhou (April 4-6).

IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: “The appetite for hosting our marquee women’s events has never been higher and the inclusion of São Paulo in an expanded IRB Women’s Sevens World Series reflects the incredible growth of the women’s Game globally as well as tremendous excitement in Brazil about the addition of Rugby Sevens to the Rio 2016 programme.

“Brazil boasts one of the world’s top-ranked international women’s teams and I have no doubt that the debut event at the Arena Barueri will prove popular and give us a taste of what to expect at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.”

Brazilian women’s captain Julia Sardá added: “It’s essential that Brazil gets to play more rugby, as we will host the next Olympic Games. Having the opportunity to play against the best teams in the world with family and friends watching is amazing and we hope to show to the world that Brazilian rugby is evolving.”

The IRB will announce the destination of the sixth leg in due course.

New Feyenoord Stadium in Doubt Due to Lack of Support

Feyenoord Football Club face a battle to build a new stadium after D55 councilors in Rotterdam refused to back the project.

D66 are a part of the ruling coalition in Rotterdam and therefore their decision against the new stadium make it unlikely the city council will gain a majority for the €165m ($212m) guarantee needed for the development.

The D66 party say they plan is too big of a risk and there is not enough evidence to suggest the city will benefit in terms of economy, viagra order sport and jobs.

Feyenoord’s new stadium will cost around €400m ($513m) and the council has been asked to put forward €165m ($212m).

On top of this, the council will need to invest €35m ($45m) in the land and €36m ($46m) in local infrastructure improvements.

Green Bay Packers Reveal New Stock Sale

The National Football League’s only remaining publicly-owned franchise, the Green Bay Packers, has announced details revolving around a new stock sale that will help fund the redevelopment of Lambeau Field.

The Super Bowl champions want to expand the south end of Lambeau Field, adding an extra 6,600 seats, bringing the capacity to a little fewer than 80,000. The installation of a new sound system earlier this year began the redevelopment phase, which is planned for completion prior to the start of the 2013 season.

Details of the team’s fifth stock sale, their first in fourteen years, hopes to raise US$130million. Each share will cost $250 each when 250,000 go on sale on Tuesday, although there is a 200-share cap. The sale will run through until 29 February.

Perks of being a stockholder include voting rights, a tour of the Hall of Fame, and the possibility to mingle with executives at annual. However, stockholders must live in the US, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Green Bay’s President and CEO Mark Murphy said: “We appreciate the interest that fans have expressed in our fifth stock offering.

“We are not yet in a position to fully discuss the offering. However, this information will answer some of the initial questions that we’ve received. We look forward to formally launching the offering next week.”

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) have agreed a renewed exclusive media rights partnership with the European Taekwondo Union (ETU) for the ETU Senior European Taekwondo Championship.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid Handed Transfer Bans by FIFA

Spanish LaLiga clubs Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have been handed transfer bans for the next two transfer windows by FIFA for breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

FIFA stated that “both clubs are to serve a transfer ban that prevents them from registering any players at national and international level for the next two complete and consecutive registration periods”.
