BBC Extends Rights to World Snooker Championships Until 2019
UK broadcaster BBC has secured the rights to the World Snooker Championships until 2019.
According to the Telegraph Sport, mind the BBC has agreed a two-year extension to its contract for World Snooker’s three biggest tournaments – the world championship, look UK Championship and Masters – in a deal worth more than £6.5?million.

Influential figures from the world of sport governance and major event ownership will come together to explore vital bidding and hosting themes at HOST CITY 2015 Conference and Exhibition in Glasgow on 9-10 November.
Brian Cookson OBE, President of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), Sarah Lewis, Secretary General of the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the Association of Winter Olympic Sports Federations (AIOWF) and Alexander Koch, Corporate Communications Manager for FIFA, join a rapidly growing line-up of world-class speakers at the leading EU-based meeting of Cities and Sports, Business and Cultural Events.
Under the theme ‘Creative Innovation Connecting Cities with Sports, Business and Culture Events’ HOST CITY 2015 will boast a unique collection of city leaders and cross-sector rights holders, event owners and suppliers to explore the challenges and benefits of bidding for major global events.

iSportconnect, the world’s largest private network for sport business executives, held a successful Directors’ Club in Paris on Friday, at the French Football Federation Headquarters, in the heart of the French capital.
It was the second edition in Paris after the event took place at PSG’s Parc des Princes on 12th December 2013. The event featured a panel discussion with senior figures in the sports industry in France with a Question Time style debate and was followed by a networking session.
iSportconnect Directors’ Club is an invitation only event open exclusively for chief executives, chairmen and director level executives from governing bodies, sports teams and sponsorship brands.
The panellists for the second Director’s Club Paris were Jérémy Botton, Deputy CEO of the French Tennis Federation, Arnaud Simon, Managing Director of Eurosport France, Thibaut Potdevin, UEFA Senior Sales and Marketing Manager for EURO 2016 and Laurent Lachaux, Sales and Partnerships Director at Amaury Sport Group.
The event was moderated by the well-known French TF1 Journalist Frederic Calenge.
Together, they discussed the latest developments and trends in the sports business world and the challenges facing the industry, such as broadcasting rights, emerging sports, second screen experience etc.
After the debate, Arnaud Simon, Managing Director of Eurosport France, said: “It was great to gather and discuss freely about the hottest topic in the industry.

Baku 2015 European Games Reveal New Branding
The Baku 2015 European Games has today unveiled new branding that combines Azerbaijan’s history, capsule heritage and culture with elite European sport.
The look has been inspired by the country’s capital Baku, medstore and the colourful new images will feature on venues, ed tickets, uniforms and all official merchandising of the inaugural European Games.
Mr Simon Clegg, Chief Operating Officer of Baku 2015 European Games Operation Committee (BEGOC), said: “The new brand is a dynamic and fresh new look for Baku 2015 which symbolises our pride in ancient Azerbaijani heritage, the natural beauty of the country and a desire to create an innovative sports event that will be enjoyed by the whole of Europe.
“Over the coming weeks and months, the look will become synonymous with the European Games and provide an immediate visual link to all aspects of our identity here in Azerbaijan.”
The new look is also part of a relaunch of the official Baku 2015 website, which has been updated and revamped.
The new look was created by the SomeOne agency, who had previously worked on branding for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Mr Gary Holt, co-founder and Executive Creative Director of SomeOne, said: “Having visited Baku during the immersive phase of the project, we were impressed at just how lush and beautiful the city was.
“This inspired the creation of a living property – the Baku 2015 pomegranate tree. Alive with athletes, Azerbaijani art and the pomegranates themselves, the tree has been designed to be adaptive, celebrating elite sport in the amazing setting of Baku.”
The images will also feature on corporate stationery, medals and the dressing of the host city on billboards and banners in Baku as the countdown to the Games continues.
Charlie Wijeratna, Commercial Director of Baku 2015, said: “We are delighted with the beautiful and intricate designs and pictograms that SomeOne have created to bring the European Games to life.
“They have designed a look which will be effective across all our anticipated uses, from medals to uniforms and for branding of all shapes and sizes.”

The Director of Partnerships and Marketing leads the sales efforts for USA Water Ski relative to sponsorships, licensing and royalty partnerships, advertising for The Water Skier and corporate alliances for membership benefits. Responsibilities include maintaining industry relationships as well as the fulfillment and execution of our advertising and sponsorship agreements. An additional primary responsibility is implementing a marketing platform for the promotion of all USA Water Ski sport disciplines.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sponsorships and Partnerships
-Responsible for USA Water Ski sponsor solicitation initiatives.
-Responsible for creation of USA Water Ski sales platform with materials for use in sponsor proposals.
-Responsible for development of programs that tie sponsor advertising to USA Water Ski asset inventory.
-Responsible for development of sponsor benefit programs, campaigns and connections to USA Water Ski programs.
-Responsible for securing sponsors for specific USA Water Ski programs, tournaments and events.

- -Responsible for renewing and updating Dockside and Marketplace section ads.
Event and Competition Support
-Responsible for sponsor activation at USA Water Ski tournaments and events.
-Responsible for all sponsor banner display
- -Assistance with USA Water Ski merchandising at major events.
-Responsible for trade show, tournament and special event vendor booth/display program preparations and implementation. - -Responsible for sponsor accreditation and access for all USA Water Ski major events and tournaments.
- -Responsible for television and webcasting broadcast efforts and implementation.
- -Responsible for event support for selected events, including competition and marketing activation support.
- -Assists and supports the conduct and staging of national and international championship events conducted in the United States.
- -Supports USA Water Ski Approved Towboat Program.
Merchandising
- -Serves as a member of the USA Water team in all aspects of the merchandising program (design, selection, sales, etc.)
Membership and Sport Disciplines
- -Responsible for development of partnership discounts and benefits for USA Water Ski members.
- -Coordinates with the Member Services Director on membership marketing efforts.
- -Responsible for connecting all sponsor solicitation and activation to specific sport disciplines.
Financial
- -Develops and administers budget for USA Water Ski relative to sponsorship sales and fulfillment, advertising sales, licensing arrangements and royalties.
- -Responsible for filing monthly billing lists of advertisements for the accounting department.
-Duties and responsibilities can be revised, be added or be deleted at the sole discretion and at the direction of the Executive Director or, in his absence, the President of US Water Ski.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal Education, Certification and Training Requirements:
- College Degree Required – Bachelor’s degree in the area of sports marketing, and/or business/management is preferred.
- Understanding of the sport of water skiing or similar Olympic or professional sport is strongly preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of one year working in lead sponsor relations position.
- Minimum of one year working experience with sports related organization.
- Minimum three years working experience in sponsor sales/relations.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements
- Creative, energetic, enthusiastic “team player” with innovative ideas and ability to take the initiative.
- Ability to provide accurate dissemination of information/results on each event critical; must be detail oriented.
- Strong organizational and communication skills needed.
- Strong ability to interact with the public and athletes – public speaking required.
- Good rapport with the sports business community in the industry is necessary.
- Basic computer skills required – Microsoft Office Platform and Programs – Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Weekend and evening work required during the competition season.

Manchester United Post Record Quarterly Profit and Project £500m Revenue for 2016
English Premier League giants Manchester United have announced a record quarterly profit of £18.6 million for the 2016 fiscal second quarter and six months ended 31 Dec 2015.
The club’s second quarter revenues rose by 26.6% to a record £133.8m, with commercial revenues up 42.5% to £66.1m.
Broadcasting revenues were also up 31.3% for the quarter to £37.3 million.
Ed Woodward, Executive Vice Chairman, commented, “Our strong commitment to investing in our squad, youth academy and the broader club are ultimately underpinned by our financial strength and the hard work and dedication of everyone at the Club.
“Our solid results off the pitch help contribute to what remains our number one priority – success on the pitch.”
United are projecting to make between £500-£510m for the entire year, which would make them the first British club to do so.
This is despite the club being knocked out of the Champions League early and also being in danger of missing out on Europe’s elite club competition next season.

ICC Names Channel 2 Group as Audio Rights Partner Until 2023
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has agreed a deal with the Channel 2 Group to become its global audio rights partner after it acquired exclusive audio rights for all ICC events from 2016 to 2023.
Under the terms of the agreement, ed Channel 2 Group, order the first terrestrial unique movie channel in Africa, will have global FM and AM rights, including exclusive distribution and sub-licensing rights for all the 17 ICC Events in the 2016-2023 period, starting with this month’s ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh through to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.
