Sportradar Partners With AFF For Suzuki Cup 2014

The Asean Football Federation (AFF) has entered into a partnership agreement with Sportradar to secure their coverage and analysis of the global betting markets across all 18 matches of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014.

Under the agreement, therapy Sportradar will also be providing its education workshops to the tournament officials, both in Hanoi and Singapore, before the tournament kicks off in Hanoi on 22 November 2014.

The AFF Suzuki Cup takes place every two years with Vietnam and Singapore jointly hosting this year’s tournament.

Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System will notify the AFF if there are any suspicious betting patterns on any of the 12 group games or the six games in the knock-out stages.

Lt Gen Dato’ Azzuddin Ahmad (Retired), the General Secretary of the AFF, said: “The AFF Suzuki Cup is the most exciting competition in the region and has been electrifying fans since 1996.

“But we are not blind to the dangers that match fixing and manipulation poses. Together with the best monitoring system available, we will be vigilant, precisely so that our fans don’t have to be.

“They can just focus on enjoying the highly competitive and entertaining tournament and doing all they can to will their respective teams to the title of champions!”

Garry Cook Named UFC Chief Global Officer

Former Manchester City CEO Garry Cook has been named as UFC’s Chief Global Officer.

Cook, generic who joined UFC two years ago to head operations in Europe, adiposity the Middle East and Africa, will be moving to Las Vegas to take up his new post.

This will make Cook one of the most influential figures in the organisation, as he will take charge of all international territories.

Over Fischer’s four years with the organisation, they were able to run several shows in Macau and produce a season on Chinese television but were unable to break into the largest Chinese cities for live events.

New Jersey GP Promoter Expects Race to be Included in 2014 F1 Calendar

The promoter of the New Jersey Grand Prix, Leo Hindery Jr., says he thinks the Grand Prix of America will be on the 2014 F1 calendar despite being dropped from the preliminary schedule.

The street circuit was not ready for 2013 and a leaked 21 race calendar for 2014 did not include the race, casting doubts over its future.

However, in a report by Sky Sports, Hindrey Jr. said: “We never had any expectation of being on a preliminary schedule.

“But it took on a life of its own because so many of us are aspiring to be on the calendar that haven’t been there before – ourselves, Russia, Mexico, and with Austria also returning. In our particular case we were told not to do anything but stick to the date of the 20th, which we intend to do.

“The calendar decision will be made later this month, and although I can’t guarantee anything, we fully expect to be on it.”

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone had previously told Sky Sports F1: “We have a contract with New Jersey and I hope they can honour the contract.”

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Management of the annual financial audit and periodic USOC, 401(k) and tax audits.
  • Daily management of the organization’s cash and marketable securities and the preparation of cash forecasts.
  • Responsible for USAWP’s computer and I.T. systems, including accounting systems, desktop support, and externally maintained USAWP websites.
  • Manage and monitor internal control policies, ensuring compliance with procedures and maintaining the security of organization’s assets.
  • Management of the organization’s credit card programs.
  • Manage governmental compliance of approximately 18 states, including state registrations, payroll taxes and charity compliance.
  • Filing of all required organization tax returns and compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Financial management of organization’s insurance programs.
  • Supervise Finance Manager and subordinate staff.
  • Responds to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate CFO’s financial needs.
  • Participates in a wide variety of special projects and complies a variety of special reports.
  • Communicates with other individuals in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 3+ years directly related accounting/ financial management experience.
  • Strong technology management experience

Minnesota United to join MLS from 2017

Minnesota United will become the MLS’ 22nd franchise for the 2017 season, with the team set to call the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium as its temporary home.

The team were first granted an expansion invitation in March 2015. The confirmation of the award of the licence means Minnesota United will step up from the second-tier North American Soccer League (NASL) to join Atlanta United as a new team in 2017.

It plans to build a soccer specific home in St. Paul, they have received approval from St. Paul City Council for its privately-financed stadium plan and now will look for approval from the Minnesota legislature on a property tax exemption before beginning construction. The 21,500-seat stadium is expected to cost around $150m, opening in 2018.

Former UnitedHealth chief executive Bill McGuire, owns the team, buying them in 2013. Jim Pohlad, owner of Major League Baseball (MLB) team the Minnesota Twins, and Glen Taylor, who controls NBA basketball franchise the Minnesota Timberwolves, are also part of the ownership group.

 

Tottenham agree William Hill deal for Europe and Australia

Tottenham Hotspur have announced William Hill as its Official Betting Partner for Europe and Australia for an initial two-year period from the start of the 2016/17 season.

International Hockey Federation sign new deal with BT Sport

The International Hockey Federation have signed a new deal with BT Sport that will see them broadcast the Hockey Champions Trophies in the UK.

The prestigious Hockey Champions Trophy tournaments come to London in June and will see the men’s and women’s national hockey teams go head to head before the Rio Olympics.

BT Sport will broadcast 18 men’s Hockey Champions Trophy matches from Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre between 10-17 June and 18 women’s Hockey Champions Trophy matches between 18-26 June; a total of 36 hours of coverage for each competition.

Gian-Franco Kasper Takes Interim Charge of SportAccord

International Ski Federation (FIS) and Swiss IOC member Gian-Franco Kasper has been named as the interim president of SportAccord until the elections. 

Marius Vizer stepped down from the position after his comments towards the IOC at the latest SportAccord Convention caused many international federations to withdraw from SportAccord.

IOC President Bach Backs Australia 2028 Olympics Bid

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach believes a bid from Australia would have a “very good chance” of winning the 2028 Summer Olympics. 

Bach had a meeting this week with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and is in support of a bid from the country to host the Games for the third time.
