West Ham announce 5-year Heineken deal

West Ham United have announced a five-year partnership with Heineken, the cider, beer and pub company.

The long-term deal will see Heineken become the Club’s official beer and cider partner at the London Stadium until 2021.  

West Ham United Vice-Chairman Karren Brady said: “Today’s announcement represents another high-profile partnership for West Ham United with a truly global, best-in-class brand. 

“You need only look at Heineken’s partnership portfolio to understand the scale of the business and with over 150 years’ history behind them, they, like us, have a rich heritage too.

SportAccord Convention confirms Bronze Partners

Eurosport extends European Athletics deal

Eurosport has extended its multiplatform rights for elite-level championships organised by European Athletics.  

  

The European-wide agreement, denture acquired from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), covers a series of top athletics events over the next four years.

Kicking off with the 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam from July 6-10, the agreement also includes the 2017 and 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships, as well as the 2017, 2018 and 2019 European Athletics Team Championships.

Eurosport Chief Executive Officer Peter Hutton said: “Eurosport has firmly established itself as the destination of choice for fans of Olympic sports on a year-round basis,” 

 

“This deal demonstrates our commitment to athletics and the Olympic movement as we look forward to beginning our coverage of the Olympic Games across Europe in two years’ time.”

 

UEFA Sanction Softened FFP Regulations

UEFA has approved changes which will see its Financial Fair Play (FFP) rule expanded and strengthened.

The refining of FFP has been done with the aim of attracting new investors and will “encourage more growth and development, asthma inclusivity and market stimulation”.

The new UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations will run from the period from 2015–18.

UEFA President Michel Platini stated: “The new regulations are an expansion and a strengthening of financial fair play. The overall objectives of financial fair play remain the same.

“We are just evolving from a period of austerity to one where we can offer more opportunities for sustainable growth and development.”

EHF and Infront Continue Digital Strategy

The European Handball Federation (EHF) and Infront Sports & Media, abortion its exclusive media and marketing partner for the EHF European Championships, are expanding their digital strategy for the upcoming Women’s EHF EURO 2014.

The official App was launched last week and it offers all relevant information including results, statistics, feature stories as well as live streaming of all matches.

The extended content of the championship across all TV, online, mobile and social media platforms is expected to attract an ever growing presence for the event.

The tournament will be held from 7 to 21 December 2014 in Hungary and Croatia.

The Women’s EHF EURO will be broadcast in 145 countries, after Infront agreed deals with 85 broadcasters.

Streaming of all matches with English commentary will be shown live and on-demand at the EHF TV website and through the official App into all countries where no exclusive media rights agreements are in place.

In addition, handball fans will also be shown clips and daily programme teasers together with special highlights on the championship’s official YouTube Channel.

Continuous fan interaction has been fostered even further through the tournament’s social media channels, across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

The re-launched official championship website will provide handball fans with comprehensive event information, including live blogging throughout the tournament.

Olympic Velodrome to Host UCI Track World Cup

Lee Valley VeloPark in London has been chosen as the venue to host the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in December.

British Cycling confirmed that the second round of the 2014-15 World Cup series will be held at the Velodrome from December 5-7, mind which would see the Great Britain team return to the building where they won nine medals in the London 2012 Olympics.

“We are delighted that the UCI has awarded an event in its World Cup series to the UK once again,” said British Cycling’s cycle sport and membership director Jonny Clay.

“We look forward to seeing Great Britain’s athletes return to London and a venue that will hold special memories for many of our cyclists after the phenomenal success they achieved at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“For our emerging athletes, we hope that their first World Cup at the Lee Valley VeloPark will prove to be the start of a successful journey towardsthe Rio 2016 Olympic Games.”

This news follows on from the announcement last year that the venue will host the 2016 Track World Championships.
