QPR Given Green Light to Build New Training Ground Complex

English Championship club Queens Park Rangers have been granted permission to build their multi-million pound training ground and academy HQ.

The venture on Warren Farm sports ground was approved after an application for a judicial review was rejected by a High Court judge.

Judge Justice Lewis rejected all claims made by Hanwell Community Forum who opposed QPR’s development, which covers over 61 acres of London’s Green Belt, for being ‘unlawful on several grounds’.

Lewis also confirmed that the council acted appropriately in granting the club planning permission to redevelop the site and awarded QPR’s costs of £5,000 against Hanwell Community Forum, who now have a week in which to seek an oral hearing to ask that the judge’s decision is reconsidered.

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of the council, said: “We are pleased with the High Court’s decision to reject the application for a judicial review and, with QPR set to invest millions of pounds into the community sports facilities, I’m confident we’ve secured the best deal for local people.

“Once the site is up-and-running, QPR will implement a significant community sports development programme focuses on encouraging local people, particularly young women, older people and people with disabilities, to get involved in sport. The club will also be responsible for on-going maintenance of the new facilities, with no cost to taxpayers or the council.”

Under the plans, QPR will build a new multi-million pound community sports complex alongside its elite training facility, which will provide a base for the club’s training academy as well as give local people access to high-quality community and sports facilities.

QPR’s chief operating officer, Mark Donnelly, added: “We are pleased with the outcome from the High Court and welcome the news that the application for a judicial review has been rejected,” Donnelly said.

“We look forward to continue working closely with Ealing Council on this project.”

The United States Golf Association has today officially awarded Torrey Pines Golf Course, pills in San Diego, doctor California, impotent as the site of the 2021 U.S. Open Championship.

The development, which was initially reported by iSportconnect last week, follows council approval.

The announcement was made today at Torrey Pines Golf Course with San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, representatives from the City Council, other San Diego officials and USGA senior leadership in attendance.

“The USGA is proud to bring the U.S. Open back to Torrey Pines, the site of one of the most memorable and compelling national championships in history, thanks to Tiger and Rocco,” said Thomas J. The selection of Torrey Pines for the 2021 U.S. Open marks the second time that the South Course will have hosted the national championship and its third USGA championship. While it boasts a long pedigree of hosting professional golf, Torrey Pines can also lay claim to one of the greatest moments in the history of the game: the 2008 U.S. Open, when Tiger Woods played with a leg injury and holed a 12-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to force an 18-hole playoff with Rocco Mediate. He eventually captured the title.

Pakistan Cricket Board to Appeal Chairman Court Decision

The Pakistan Cricket Board are set to appeal a decision made by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordering new elections for the chairman position on the cricket governing body.

The IHC scrapped the election of Zaka Ashraf as PCB chairman in May and have ordered a new election within 90 days.

They have also called for a five-year audit of the PCB and national academy accounts by the Auditor-General of Pakistan in a 30-page judgment which was officially released on Tuesday.

But the PCB are unhappy, saying a statement: “We have in principle decided to file an intra-court appeal against the judgment of the IHC given on a constitutional writ petition.”

The court’s decision is likely to create a gridlock on matters such as team selection for the tours of Zimbabwe and Singapore and the home series against South Africa, all of which need to be organised by October.

The statement went on: “Furthermore, the PCB needs to conclude arrangements for media broadcasting agreements, for which tenders are required to be floated on an urgent basis.”

The PCB feels the judgment raises concerns relating to ICC guidelines on the non-intervention of government into the administrative affairs of the board.

DTB Applies for Hamburg Grass Tennis Tournament in 2015

The German Tennis Federation (DTB) has submitted its bid for a grass tournament in Hamburg from 2015.

The decision was especially against the background of a long-term security of the tournament site in Hamburg. Germany would with two grass tournaments in succession – Hamburg and Halle – become the most important tennis site on the way to Wimbledon.

A reason for the application was the fact that the grass tournament in June would be held immediately after the French Open, allergy and therefore before the Hamburg summer holidays.

The postponement of the Wimbledon tournament in 2015 by a week means that the period between Wimbledon and the U.S. Open is reduced by one week and the future of some Clay tournaments in this period is uncertain. Especially since the contract of DTB with the ATP expires in 2018 and not be ruled out that the 500 license of the Hamburg tournament will be awarded on a hard court tournament in order to give players more opportunities to prepare for the U.S. Open.
