IAAF Diamond League Guaranteed Until 2019 after New Deal

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has signed a new agreement guaranteeing the next five years of the IAAF Diamond League.

Dodger Stadium to Be Swept Up in New ABM Partnership

ABM, order a leading provider of facility solutions, has announced it has been selected as the new cleaning services partner for Dodger Stadium, home of Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers.

Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey to Host 2022 PGA Championship

Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. has been confirmed as the site of 2022 PGA Championship after an agreement between the PGA of America and the Trump Organization.

The deal also includes the Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C. hosting the 2017 Senior PGA Championship

In August 2022, Trump National Golf Club – Bedminster will host the 104th PGA Championship, which will mark the third New Jersey course to host a PGA Championship and the Championship’s fourth overall visit to the state. The 78th Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid in May 2017 at Trump National Golf Club – Washington, D.C., will be the first time the most historic and prestigious championship in senior golf will be conducted in Virginia.

Azerbaijan Set to Host F1 Race

Formula One could be heading to Azerbaijan after CEO Bernie Ecclestone revealed the motorsport could visit the European destination in 2016.

According to the Daily Mail, Flavio Briatore, who has opened a couture business in the capital, Baku, will pocket a seven-figure bonus for acting as a go-between.

“We’re going to Azerbaijan,” Ecclestone told the Mail. “The people out there are talking about holding a race in 2015. That may be a bit soon – unless it’s at the end of the season; that’s a possibility. But 2016 is more likely.”

The Azerbaijani GP will be held on the streets of Baku and marks another step in the globalisation of Formula One – part of a growing trend away from the sport’s traditional circuits in Europe.

Turkey, China, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Malaysia are among the countries recently added to the calendar.

Brazil Dropped from 2014 MotoGP Calendar

MotoGP’s expected return to Brazil has been delayed for another year after the FIM officially confirmed it has been dropped from the definitive 2014 MotoGP calendar.

The event, which was planned to be held at the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet circuit in the capital city Brasilia, was due to herald Brazil’s first MotoGP race since 2004 when the series raced in Rio de Janeiro at Jacarepaguá.

However, the venue – which is located close to Brasilia’s stadium for the upcoming FIFA World Cup – was always subject to homologation on provisional drafts of the calendar, with local rumours suggesting that construction to upgrade the grandstands and facilities was not on schedule. 

The result has left Brazil out of the final MotoGP calendar, with its original date of 28th September being granted to the Aragon Grand Prix, which moves a week from its original 21st September slot. It means the San Marino Grand Prix and the Aragon Grand will be two weeks apart, rather than there being three back-to-back races.

With Brazil not being replaced, the 2014 MotoGP calendar will once again comprise of 18 rounds and still include a new event in Argentina at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo. Laguna Seca, however, has been removed.

Foster’s rise to NFL stardom is remarkable. He was undrafted out of the University of Tennessee yet became one of the NFL’s top running backs.  In 2010 he burst upon the scene with 231 rushing yards and three touchdowns on opening day.  He went on to lead the NFL in rushing with 1,616 yards and set an NFL record for an undrafted player with 2,220 yards from scrimmage. From 2010-12 his 5,702 yards from scrimmage and 47 touchdowns led all NFL players.

Exclusive: America’s Cup in ‘advanced’ talks with Three Potential Sponsors

Having only recently announced deals with Lexus and Kaiser Permanente, the America’s Cup are on the verge of inking a few more partnership agreements. 

In July, Japanese automaker Lexus joined the America’s Cup as Official Vehicle and Sustainability Partner, while Kaiser Permanente, one of the nation’s leading health care organizations, confirmed that they will serve as the Official Medical Services Partner and Health Care Partner in August. 

Although, the names of potential partnerships have yet to be revealed, it is believed that race organisers are in talks with companies in the banking, communication and consumer product company. 

Speaking exclusively to iSportconnect, Timothy Jeffery, America’s Cup’s Head of Promotion, Athletes and Public Relations, said: “Negotiations are at an advanced stage with prospective partners in three different and distinctive categories, which variously would help the America’s Cup connect with a broader audience or match a particular sector with the event’s key audience and hospitality offering.” 

While race officials look to strengthen the sport’s appeal, the San Francisco America’s Cup Organising Committee are also set to commence discussions with local business regarding monetary donations, in an attempt to repay the city for the funds spent on additional public services required during the event.
