NFL Gain USAA for their Official Military Appreciation Sponsor

USAA (United Services Automobile Association), medicine which provides insurance to the military community, cough will be the first Official Military Appreciation Sponsor of the NFL, beginning with the 2011 season.

USAA and the NFL will use the sponsorship to honor U.S. military members for their service, and engage NFL fans to show their appreciation of the military. The parties said that this is the first time a league-wide corporate sponsorship has been designed specifically to honor members of the military.

Joe Robles, USAA President and CEO, said: “It might surprise those who know USAA well that there are millions of people in the military community those who have (served) or are serving and their family members who don’t know they can be a USAA member. Our mission is to serve all members of this community, and this sponsorship provides a significant venue to achieve that mission.”

USAA offers insurance and financial products to members of the U.S. military, veterans and their families. The company employs about 15,000 people in San Antonio.

Best Buy Become Everton’s Technology Partner

Toby Flood Becomes Ambassador for Eden Park

England Rugby Player Toby Flood has become the official ambassador for Eden Park, England Rugby Team’s official formalwear supplier.

Part of the deal involves Flood modelling Eden Park’s official RFU Collection in their upcoming World Cup PR campaign. The collection is made up of branded shirts and blazers, chinos, polo shirts and scarfs.

Eden Park, which was formed in 1987 by five former French international rugby players including Franck Mesnel and Eric Blanc, has developed a strong following amongst the rugby elite and also counts Danny Care as a digital media ambassador for the handsomely crafted capsule collection.

UPS Expand Sponsorship of US College Sports

United Parcel Service (UPS) has expanded its sponsorship of college sports in the United States with three new multi-year agreements that include the largest non-network TV college sports sponsorship ever.

The company said the deals with college sports marketing and branding firm IMG College, advice along with sports conferences Big Ten and Pac-12, cure will help it build growth in the business-to-business sector as well as accessing college sports fans across a country where college sports are arguably more popular than national professional sports.

The US has 172 million college sports fans including 29 million who earn more than $100,000 a year, according to Information Management Group (IMG).

Market research suggests college sports fans are more likely to be college-educated business professionals, spending on average $5,000 a year on shipping.

Ron Rogowski, UPS vice president for sponsorships and events, said the partnerships would provide a “compelling communications platform” to get the UPS logistics message across to everyone from small business owners to championship coaches.

He said: “Through these new alliances, UPS secures one of the largest sponsorship profiles in Division I college sports, opening the door for exciting B to B growth opportunities with the conferences and individual schools along with an unprecedented range of marketing, advertising, branding and hospitality assets.”

The deal with IMG College will provide sponsorship opportunities including logo rights with 68 IMG university partners, to reach sports fans at 250 college venues.

UPS also gains exclusive marketing and promotional rights to all shipping, freight and logistics related to the schools’ athletic programmes – and becomes official logistics, package delivery and retail business service provider for the various on-campus sports activities.

We believe this is the largest non-network TV sponsorship in the history of college sports, reaching fans coast to coast.”

Cooper Tire Extend Sponsorship of Saturday afternoon Halftime Reports on ABC

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company announced it will continue to be the sponsor of Saturday afternoon Halftime Reports on ABC for the fifth consecutive year.

The ABC College Football Halftime Show is one of the America’s premier broadcasts, bringing viewers the latest collegiate scores, game previews and expert game analysis.

The partnership is the result of years of record attendance for college football. According to the NCAA, college football set a record for the number of people attending games, with close to 50 million fans turning out to watch NCAA football games. This represents an increase of more than 1.3 million fans, or nearly 3 percent, from the prior year. On any given Saturday, the Halftime Show is viewed by approximately 4 million homes.

The ABC/ESPN media schedule begins September 1 and runs through late October. Cooper will support the sponsorship with an integrated marketing plan including national advertising, consumer marketing programs and promotions, and social activation. The sponsorship also extends to ESPN.com and ESPN mobile.

Asics Sponsors Channel 4 Broadcast of World Championships

Japanese athletic equipment company, Asics are sponsoring Channel 4’s broadcast coverage of the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Daegu, Korea

Channel 4 is currently showing 60 hours of live action from Daegu along with six hours of highlights that feature Asics promotions and branding throughout.

Barry Mellis, managing director, Asics UK said: ‘The World Championships are the highlight of this year’s athletics calendar and the coverage of the event from Channel 4 is set to be fantastic. Buffalo Bills and National Guard Formulate Partnership

The National Guard has been selected to become the title sponsor and key participant in the Buffalo Bills Coach of the Week program.

Each week during the 11-week high school football season, the Buffalo Bills select a head football coach in Western New York as Coach of the Week.  Each winning coach receives a $2,000 donation to their school’s football program along with a signed certificate from the Bills and National Football League.

At the end of the season, one of the weekly award winners will be named Coach of the Year and receive another donation to their school’s football program. In addition, all honorees are recognized at halftime during a Buffalo Bills home game.

The Buffalo Bills will also provide the National Guard an opportunity to utilize the field for a pregame re-enlistment ceremony. This ceremony will be visible to all fans within the stadium and also broadcast on the Bills video board.

The National Guard will receive space at the Game Day Experience (a pregame fan interactive festival complete with games, food, and the 97 Rock pregame show broadcast live) inside the Bills Healthy Zone (Fieldhouse) for each home game played at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Buffalo Sabres Acquire New Stadium Sponsor

National Hockey League team Buffalo Sabres stadium has been branded a new name for the 2011-12 season and will now be known as the First Niagara Centre.

In connection with First Niagara Bank, N.A.’s acquisition of Upstate New York and Connecticut branches from HSBC Bank USA, N.A., the Buffalo-headquartered regional bank agreed to purchase the naming rights to HSBC Arena, the 18,690-seat home of the hockey club and Western New York’s premier sports and entertainment facility.

First Niagara will be the official bank of the Buffalo Sabres, deepening the company’s connections with its customers in the region as it strengthens its Upstate New York leadership through its previously announced HSBC-branch acquisition.  First Niagara’s 15-year agreement with the Sabres also includes exclusive exterior facility naming rights, category exclusivity in the facility’s bowl, other interior and exterior signage and branding, exclusive on-site ATM presence, television and other value-added promotional benefits.  Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

HSBC has been an integral part of the Sabres’ history and its unique presence in the community.  It was Northrop Knox, chairman of HSBC’s Upstate New York predecessor, Marine Midland Bank, who with his brother Seymour brought NHL hockey to Buffalo with the Sabres inaugural 1970-71 season.  The current home of the Sabres was christened Marine Midland Arena in 1996 and renamed HSBC Arena in 1999.

Deutsche Bank Championship and Covidien Strike Up New Partnership

The Deutsche Bank Championship, therapy a PGA golf tournament, cheap announced a new partnership with Covidien, ambulance a global health care products company with US headquarters in  Mansfield.

The partnership will focus on health and wellness and will support local children’s programs, Deutsche Bank Championship according to a press release.

The golf tournament, whose major sponsors include Deutsche Bank and EMC Corp., the data storage giant headquartered in Hopkinton, bills itself as “ New England’s premier PGA Tour event.” It is held annually over Labor Day weekend at the TPC Boston golf club in Norton.

As part of the partnership, Covidien helped launch “The First Tee of Massachusetts’s Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits” children’s program at the Hockomock Area YMCA’s Invesys Foxboro Branch, the Deutsche Bank release said.

Teresa Hacunda, Covidien’s director of civic affairs, said in a statement.: “The Covidien Partnership for Neighborhood Wellness supports a variety of projects that increase access to health care. We have a particular focus on the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity. The Company applauds the innovative initiatives in place at the Hockomock Area YMCA and other programs that help promote wellness in our communities.”

Generations For Peace Create Scholarship for University of Oxford

The Generations For Peace Institute have created a scholarship at the prestigious University of Oxford named for King Abdullah II of Jordan for relates to peace and development in Sport.

This scholarship is designed for students with the intention to conduct research into sport for peace and development.

The international NGO will have its innovative King Abdullah II of Jordan Generations For Peace Scholarship Programme available for outstanding postgraduate students in September 2012 just after the London 2012 Olympics. The candidates will be shortlisted in early 2012 and by March 2012 the scholar will be selected so that they may begin the academic year with the University of Oxford in September 2012.

The new scholarship fund was set up following two very successful years with Georgetown University, anabolics Washington D.C., and the new program will work closely with Masters and PhD. students at Oxford to develop best practices in programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, so that projects can have greater sustainable impact on the ground.

Founder of the organization, Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan, said: “We are honoured to be extending the King Abdullah II of Jordan Generations For Peace Scholarship Programme in partnership with such an illustrious institution.
