Sky Join Red Bull as Race Partner for Brazilian Grand Prix

Red Bull Racing have announced that Sky, the largest high-definition satellite TV provider in Latin America, will once again join the team as a Race Partner for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Following the team’s success last year in Brazil, when Red Bull Racing claimed the 2010 Constructors’ Championship, the partnership has been increased for this year.

SKY’s logo will feature on the bargeboards of the RB7 throughout the Grand Prix weekend, as well as on the driver overalls, worn by 2011 Champion Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.

The TV company has been a strong partner of Red Bull in several areas and has been a partner of the Red Bull Racing Brazilian Stock Car team since 2009. The partnership has so far achieved two national championships (in 2009 and 2011) with driver Carlos ‘Cacá’ Bueno. SKY was also a major partner for the Brazilian Red Bull X-Fighters Freestyle Motocross event in May earlier this year.

Warrington Wolves Secure Emirates Sponsorship for 2012 Pre-Season Tour to Australia

English Rugby League team Warrington Wolves have announced that Emirates Airline will be their title sponsor of their 2012 pre-season tour to Australia.

Commencing on the 7th January, the 23-day tour will culminate in ‘the Wire’ taking on Russell Crowe owned South Sydney Rabbitohs, in a pre-season warm-up match at Redfern Oval.

To launch the new sponsorship, Warrington Wolves captain Adrian Morley and South Sydney Rabbitohs outside back Greg Inglis met for a photocall in Leeds prior to England and Australia doing battle in the Gillette Four Nations final on Saturday, 19th November.

Morley, who enjoyed a 6 year stint in the NRL with the Sydney Roosters said: “An English Super League club taking its team on a training and playing tour ‘down under’ is very exciting. Emirates has such a rich heritage within world sport and with their support this should be a momentous occasion that really captures the imagination of our supporters.”

As well as exclusive naming rights to the tour, the ‘Fly Emirates Tour 2012′ will see the Emirates logo proudly displayed on the training, leisure and playing apparel worn by a Warrington Wolves touring party comprising of 25 players and 11 staff. The Warrington Wolves touring party will also travel in January to Sydney on the Emirates A380 superjumbo – the world’s biggest aircraft.

New AFL Team Greater Western Sydney Giants Sign Insurance Specialist Lifebroker

Australia Rules Football team Greater Western Sydney Giants have signed Lifebroker as its co-major partner.

Lifebroker, Australia’s leading specialist life insurance broker, joins Skoda as a co-major partner of the Giants for the next three years.

The partnership agreement includes rights to a jumper logo and ground signage among other publicity opportunities.

The Giants will enter the AFL competition in 2012 as the Australian Football League’s (AFL) 18th and newest club. It will be coached by four time premiership coach Kevin Sheedy and feature players such as Tom Scully, Phil Davis, Callan Ward, Luke Power and Chad Cornes.

The Giants will play home matches at Skoda Stadium, Blacktown International SportsPark, Manuka Oval in Canberra and ANZ Stadium in 2012.

College Basketball’s Great Alaska Shootout Renews Deal with Title Sponsor

College basketball tournament Great Alaska Shootout, based in Anchorage, Alaska, have kept on their title sponsor Carrs/Safeway for three more years.

UAA athletic director Steve Cobb announced at a Tip-Off Luncheon that the grocery store chain has extended its title sponsorship through 2014.

This year was the final year of the current contract for Carrs/Safeway, which became the tournament’s title sponsor in 1994. Cobb said the new contract is worth a little less than $200,000 a year, down a little from the current contract.

Missing from this year’s luncheon was the once-annual announcement of next year’s tournament field. That announcement will instead come in the spring.

But Cobb said seven men’s teams are signed for the 2012 and 2013 fields — more good news for the 34th tournament, which in 2009 had so much difficulty attracting teams it shrank to six teams.

Next year’s field “is not a super field — it’s like this one or better,” Cobb said. “2013 is when we’re set up to have a super year.”

Investec Becomes New Title Sponsors of Test Match Cricket in England Until 2021

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced today that Investec, the international specialist bank and asset manager, has agreed to become the new title sponsor of Test match cricket for the next 10 years.

The sponsorship, which will run until 2021, is the longest sponsorship agreement secured in the ECB’s history.

It will begin next summer when England take on West Indies and South Africa. This will be followed by three home Ashes series against Australia in 2013, 2015 and 2019, and major tours by India in 2014 and 2018, Pakistan in 2016 and South Africa in 2017.

ECB chief executive David Collier said: “This is excellent news for all supporters of Test cricket and a further boost for our five-day game following the England team’s recent achievement in becoming the world’s number one ranked Test side.

“Investec are an established brand with extensive experience in the sports sponsorship field and we are delighted that they have made such a significant, long-term commitment to promoting Test cricket in this country.

“The extent of their investment reflects the fact that our five-day game continues to command very significant audiences – both at home where we achieved record attendances for international cricket in 2011 and abroad where the England team is gaining increased exposure in markets such as Asia, South Africa and Australia.

“ECB has an excellent track record in developing and sustaining business partnerships across professional and recreational cricket and we look forward to working closely with everyone at Investec over the coming decade.”

As part of the agreement, Investec will receive a comprehensive range of sponsorship and advertising rights which will include ticketing, hospitality and access to England players.

The London and Johannesburg-based firm becomes only the third company ever to sponsor Test match cricket in this country and succeeds the energy provider npower whose 10-year association with English cricket concluded at the end of the 2011 season.

Emirates Extend Sponsorship of SV Hamburg

Emirates Airline will renew its sponsorship deal with SV Hamburg until 2015, allergist the chairman of the German Bundesliga football club said.

Chairman Carl-Edgar Jarchow said that the three-year extension deal also includes an option for another year until 2016. Emirates have been shirt sponsors of the northern German club since 2006, asthma the current deal expires in 2012.

Jarchow did not want to comment on financial details given by the Bild daily, there which said that Hamburg will rake in 7.5 million euros ($10.1m) per season from Emirates.

The Dubai-based airline also sponsors other big football clubs including Arsenal, Paris St Germain and AC Milan. Hamburg are currently struggling in 14th place in the Bundesliga.

Created by the organizers of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, the TriRock Series launched in San Diego on September 12, 2010 to a sold-out field of 1,200 triathletes. The series expanded to four markets in 2011, adding events in Annapolis, Seattle and New York. With 2,000 entrants, TriRock San Diego became the largest triathlon in the City of San Diego in its second year.
