Western Bulldogs Retains KooGa Apparel Deal

Australian Football League (AFL) team Western Bulldogs have renewed their partnership with long-term apparel partner KooGa.

As part of the deal, the Australian-owned sports performance brand’s logo will be on Western Bulldogs shirts for another three years.

Western Bulldogs Chief Executive, Simon Garlick, said the Bulldogs continue to be impressed with the continual design and innovation advancements by KooGa.

“We are thrilled to have further secured KooGa as the apparel partner for the next three years.

“Our extended partnership is a symbol of the quality relationship we have – and an acknowledgement of the Bulldogs’ exciting future both on and off the field,’ Garlick said.

This contract extension enables KooGa to continue to design and manufacture technical performance apparel for the clubs’ representative playing and support staff.

The two entities have enjoyed a relationship spanning four years, with KooGa first partnering the Victorian-based AFL team in 2009.

Tyron Brant, KooGa Chief Executive, commented on the deal: “The Bulldogs were the first AFL team to sign with KooGa and over the last four years we have formed a true partnership,” said Brant.

“I am delighted that this partnership will continue and there is a genuine feeling that Bulldogs are on the crest of something special after laying a strong foundation of culture and performance.”

IWC Schaffhausen Remains Official Timekeeper of Volvo Ocean Race

Volvo Ocean Race will contine to have IWC Schaffhausen as their Official Timekeeper for 2014-15 after signing a new deal with the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer.

The deal will also include IWC remaining as a title sponsor of the IWC Schaffhausen 24-hour Speed Record Challenge.

“We are proud to be part of this exceptional test of sailing prowess, which attracts the very best teams on the planet,” said IWC CEO Georges Kern. “By continuing our partnership, we are underscoring our long-term commitment, and the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 will give us another opportunity to demonstrate our expertise in engineering, technology and innovation.”

The 12th edition of the Volvo Ocean Race begins in Alicante, Spain on 4 October 2014 and will finish in Gothenburg, Sweden on 27 June 2015. The full route will take the teams 39,379 nautical miles around the planet in sport’s ultimate test of character.

IWC also announced on Tuesday it is renewing its partnership with the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team who will once again be skippered by Britain’s double Olympic medallist Ian Walker.

Harvey Norman Partners with LG to Sponsor FFA’s Friday Night Football

Australian-based retailer Harvey Norman has announced it has secured naming rights to Football Federation Australia’s (FFA) Friday Night Football for the next three years.

Harvey Norman and LG Electronics will be collaborating to capitalise on the deal.

Harvey Norman Friday Night Football will be televised on both Fox Sports and SBS with the weekly blockbuster further entrenching the Hyundai A-League in the mainstream with Free-To-Air penetration complimenting the traditional Fox Sports coverage.

The collaboration between Harvey Norman and LG signals the first direct benefit for the Hyundai A-League following the landmark TV deal last year that will see SBS broadcast all 27 Friday Night matches live into Australian homes. All Hyundai A-League matches will be broadcast live on Fox Sports.

“Both brands are proud to be joining the FFA family promoting their respective brands during the Friday Night Football season,” they have said in a joint statement. “This sponsorship offers a national opportunity to support and promote the game to the fans and consumers across the market.”

The first Harvey Norman Friday Night Football clash will see Sydney FC and the Newcastle Jets kick off the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League at Allianz Stadium on October 11 with marquee stars Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey headlining the match.

“This is an exciting partnership for the Hyundai A-League and continues the growth we achieved last year,” said FFA Chief Executive Officer David Gallop. “It also illustrates the benefit in our free to air broadcast deal that helps us cement our place in the Australian sporting mainstream.

Goodman Fielder to Sponsor NSW Waratahs

New South Wales (NSW) Waratahs have announced a new sponsor with Goodman Fielder coming on board as an official partner of the Super Rugby team.

Waratahs Rugby CEO Jason Allen commented on the deal: “We are thrilled to welcome Goodman Fielder to our team for 2014.

“As a NSW-based organisation and a leader in their field, Goodman Fielder’s values of honesty and integrity are a perfect match for our own and as we prepare to enter a new chapter in NSW Waratahs’ history, we’re delighted to welcome them with us on the journey.”

In a separate agreement, Goodman Fielder has also signed up NSW Waratah and Wallaby star Israel Folau (pictured centre) as an ambassador for the company’s leading brands of Wonder White and MeadowLea.

The announcement comes on the back of the recent signing of Volvo as the team’s new major sponsor and follows the latest 2013 Repucom data, which shows the team last season achieved record media exposure values for its sponsors. Further commercial announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

IP Global Gets Title Sponsorship Rights to Autumn Event at Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club

Real estate investment company IP Global has signed a partnership withe the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC) to sponsor on eof their major events this autumn.

They will title sponsor the  IP Global Autumn Regatta, the RHKYC’s opening event of the 2013-2014 sailing season, and will also have a presence at the St Regis China Coast Regatta, the Audi Hong Kong to Vietnam Race and the Tommy Bahama Around the Island Race.

KFC Sponsors 2013 Asian Youth Para Games

KFC Malaysia has partnered with the Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) to sponsor the upcoming Asian Youth Para Games (AYPG) 2013.

KFC Malaysia will be the Sport Partner for AYPG Malaysia 2013, arthritis taking up Badminton under the AYPG Malaysia 2013 “ADOPT-A-SPORT” programme, buy aimed at involving companies and sponsors in the promotion of para sports and the Games.

Badminton is among 14 sports to be contested in AYPG Malaysia 2013. The other sports listed are Athletics, treat Archery, Boccia, Swimming, Table Tennis, Chess, Powerlifting, Goalball, Tenpin Bowling, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis, Judo, Volleyball-Sitting.

Datuk Ahmad Zaki Zahid, Managing Director of QSR Brands (M) Sdn Bhd, operator of KFC Malaysia, handed over the cash sponsorship of RM132,940 (US$40,914) to Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) for the organisation of the Games.

Zahid commented on the deal: “It reflects our commitment towards uplifting the standard of our para athletes, or for that matter, persons with a disability in the country. It goes in tandem with our policy of helping out the disabled people and community in realizing their dreams and lead a meaningful life.”

PCM President Dato’ Zainal Abu Zarin, added: “KFC’s participation as partner of the Games sets a good example of how a corporate entity and an NGO can work closely for a common cause, in this context, towards the development of persons with a disability,” said Dato’ Zainal.

Under the Games’ ADOPT-A-SPORT programme, companies and sponsors are given the choice to adopt any of the 14 sports listed for the Games.

“We hope to continue this programme even after the Games… to create a better understanding of para sports, its needs and requirements amongst corporate citizens,” said Dato’ Zainal.

AYPG Malaysia 2013, scheduled from 26th to 30th October, is expected to see the participation of more than 2,000 athletes from 41 Asian nations, under the umbrella of the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC).

CCM to Continue to Provide On-ice Equipment to ECHL

The East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) have announced that CCM will continue as the official provider of on-ice equipment to all ECHL teams for the 2013-14 season. 

CCM has been the exclusive supplier of hockey sticks, recipe helmets, visors, gloves and pants for ECHL players the past seven seasons and has been partners of the Premier ‘AA’ Hockey League for more than 10 years. Starting with the 2013-14 season, CCM will be the exclusive provider of home and away jerseys for each of the ECHL’s 22 teams. 

CCM provides authentic and replica jerseys and skates for ECHL teams and has supplied jerseys, visors, helmets and pants for on-ice officials. 

“We are very proud to be extending our agreement,” said Sean Williams, VP of Global Marketing for Reebok-CCM Hockey. “This partnership has brought us excellent visibility over the years and we are thrilled to grow our brands alongside the ECHL.”

CCM will also be featured on ECHL.com, the official web site of the league, and on member web sites through the ECHL.com Network. CCM is the official sponsor of the ECHL weekly goaltender award as well as the monthly player and rookie awards and the yearly awards for goaltender, plus-minus rating, rookie and most valuable player.

Brooklyn Nets Reveals New Presenting Sponsor

National Basketball Association (NBA) franchise Brooklyn Nets are set to acquire a new presenting sponsor with SecureWatch 24 coming on board in a new multi-year deal.

The corporate sponsorship will allow SecureWatch to gain exposure through marketing intiatives including ads, billboards and in-arena signage.

Most visible will be the security company’s logo on courtside and baseline signage during home games at Barclays Center.

“It’s not just about the magnitude of the deal, it’s how our partner will activate while leveraging the relationship,” Nets CEO Brett Yormark told Adweek. “It’s going to be a great year. Our partner is going to realize all of those great benefits. We anticipate selling out every night. Fans’ response to our offseason [player acquisitions] has been terrific.

Jay Stuck, CMO for Securewatch 24, commented: “[We] didn’t want to be one of a dozen logos associated with a sports marketing opportunity,” Stuck explained. “We we wanted to own it by being the presenting sponsor in order to maximize the investment. And to be the presenting sponsor of the Brooklyn Nets is a huge step for us.”

Brooklyn have also recently debuted their new advertising campaign “Are You Ready?” in English, Spanish and Russian that will entail billboard, print, television, kiosks, digital and social media advertisements focused on the brand’s tri-state area.

“Our campaign, Are You Ready?, is patently more aggressive than last year. We came into the borough in a humble way. It was all about ‘Hello Brooklyn.’ Now we can take it up a notch. We are being a little bit more bold, a little bit more direct.”

Danish window and door manufacturer Outrup will be an official sponsor of the Men’s EHF EURO 2014 event, unhealthy which will be held from 12 to 26 January 2014 in the Danish cities of Aalborg, impotent Aarhus, Herning and Copenhagen.

With this commitment, the Danish window and door manufacturer becomes part of the official commercial programme for the European Handball Federation’s flagship national team event, in a deal brokered by its media and marketing partner Infront Sports & Media.

Stena Line Renews Title Sponsorship of Belfast Giants

Ferry operator Stena Line has extended its title sponsorship of Elite Hockey League team, Belfast Giants for the third successive year. 

Northern Ireland’s leading ferry company, which has supported the Giants since 2008 with title sponsorship for the past two years, will ferry the Giants players and fans to away games in the UK throughout the season as well as travelling teams visiting Belfast. Stena Line will also join forces with the hard hitting ice hockey stars in their community work.

The partnership has already proved a huge success with the Giants winning the Monteith Bowl (League Title) in the first year and being consistently one of the tops teams in the league and cup competitions.
