FIA Inks New Nissan Partnership

Japanese car manufacturer Nissan have signed a new partnership with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). 

As part of the multi-year agreement, the Japanese automaker will become an Official Supporter of the FIA’s innovative awareness-raising campaign, which was launched in 2011 in support of the United Nations’ Decade of Action for Road Safety.

The new partnership will see Nissan support and promote awareness campaigns worldwide – in particular Action for Road Safety’s Golden Rules for Safer Motoring – with the aim of combatting a global scourge that results in the deaths of 1.3 million people annually, with 50 million more being injured each year.

With its corporate vision of Enriching People’s Lives, Nissan seeks opportunities through its global activities to nurture sustainability within society. This holistic approach is known as Blue Citizenship, of which enhancing safety is an integral part.

Nissan has been pursuing safety through the “Triple-Layered Approach” of developing safer vehicles, individuals and society. Nissan vehicles are equipped with industry-leading safety technologies today, and these innovations will extend to the realization of autonomous driving in the years to come. At the same time, various initiatives aimed at encouraging safe driving habits are being undertaken by Nissan across the globe.

Sunsail Named Official Charter Sailing Partner of Cowes Week

Sunsail has been named the official charter sailing partner of the 2015 and 2016 Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week.

Canterbury Extends Vodafone Warriors Partnership

Canterbury of New Zealand has renewed its partnership with the Vodafone Warriors to nine seasons after signing a new three-year term to the end of the 2017 NRL season.

The deal ensures the company will have the special distinction of its iconic CCC logo appearing on the club’s kit in both its debut season in 1995 and its landmark 20th anniversary campaign in 2015.

The first six years of Canterbury of New Zealand’s current term as official apparel sponsor has coincided with Vodafone Warriors dominating team kit sales across the NRL.

“Our partnership with Canterbury of New Zealand has been a fantastic success on every level,” said Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah.

“They’ve set the standard with our designs and have made our jerseys the most popular by far not just in the NRL but among all sports in Australasia.”

Since 2009 Vodafone Warriors jerseys have sold in exceptional numbers, none more so than the ‘Te Toki Pounamu’ design in 2012. The special greenstone heritage jersey highlighted Canterbury’s technical capabilities and promoted the Vodafone Warriors brand to a worldwide audience.

Canterbury of New Zealand chief operating officer Jason Law said the success of the sponsorship included taking the players’ thoughts on board.

“We’re extremely pleased to re-sign with the Vodafone Warriors as their official apparel sponsor,” he said.

“The last six years we have worked hard and we’ve also had a lot of fun along the way working with Wayne and his management team as well as taking on board the players’ insights in developing and designing the club’s apparel.

“As a business and as passionate fans it’s fantastic to know we’ve extended our relationship through to the end of 2017.”

NRL’s Wests Tigers Inks New Apparel Deal with ISC

National Rugby League (NRL) team Wests Tigers has signed a new agreement with leading apparel brand ISC.

The new agreement will see ISC produce apparel for Wests Tigers players, anesthetist Members and fans for the next five years.

Wests Tigers CEO Grant Mayer said that the new agreement with ISC will see the Club provided with high quality apparel for both on and off the field.

“Wests Tigers are looking forward to working closely with the team at ISC for at least the next five years, impotent ” said Mayer. “ISC are market leaders and Wests Tigers are proud to associate ourselves with the brand. I’m confident that the new agreement will see our players, Members and fans in the best quality apparel available.”

Puma Renews BMW Motorsport Partnership

Radio Sport Announced as Host Broadcaster for Rugby WC

Radio Sport has been appointed by Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) as the Official Radio Broadcaster for Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand and will also act as the host broadcaster of the event.

In a deal that will deliver unprecedented coverage of the largest event ever to be hosted in New Zealand, the country’s largest national radio network will produce and broadcast all 48 matches through its stable of stations.

Under the deal Radio Sport will also produce a clean world feed of all 48 matches for the events official website and other radio rights holding broadcasters, giving Rugby World Cup 2011 a radio broadcast platform that will cover over 200 territories worldwide.

Broadcasters Pull Tour de France Once Again Over Doping Affairs

A broadcasting agreement for the Tour de France has been cancelled by German state broadcasters ARD and ZDF over concerns with doping in the sport after current Tour champion Alberto Contador was recently handed a one-year ban from professional cycling for an offence.

The German companies will not show live coverage of the event once their current deal for the 2011 race concludes after stating that they would not join a new European Broadcasting Union contract with the Tour’s organiser, allergy | Amaury Sport Organisation.

Despite announcing that they would continue to report on the event ARD and ZDF opted against live coverage in the future, claiming that the stature of the cycling event had “low acceptance” with TV viewers because of the various doping scandals in recent years.

In 2007, the networks stopped airing the Tour after a series of doping affairs, but they resumed live coverage a year later.
