Leicester Riders Partner with Roberts Travel Group

Current BBL Cup winners Leicester Riders have entered into a partnership with Roberts Travel Group.

The travel company will provide Riders’ players travelling to away fixtures in comfort during the 2014-15 season and Roberts becoming the club’s official travel partner. 

Roberts Travel Group offers a comprehensive programme of coach holidays to destinations throughout the UK and Europe and private mini-bus and coach hire for all occasions. The group also operate scheduled bus services throughout Leicestershire, school and village transport, and the Quicksilver Park & Ride services into the city of Leicester.

ESPN and Fox Sports Secure European Soccer Pay-TV Rights for Central and Latin America

ESPN International and Fox Sports Latin America have acquired pay-TV broadcast rights to soccer’s UEFA Champions League and Europa League competitions covering Central and Latin America.

The deal, which does not include coverage in Brazil, has been agreed for the two networks to air Europe’s top two club competitions from 2012-15.

ESPN International and Fox Sports Latin America will each guarantee two live matches per match night in the Champions League and at least one live Europa League match from each kick-off slot on their channels every match week.

The agreements are platform-neutral, allowing both networks to exploit the rights via their internet sites and mobile.

In addition, both parties have also secured broadcast rights to the Europa League in the Caribbean region, with Champions League rights having been previously acquired by Fox Sports.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Events SA marketing director, said: “UEFA is delighted to announce the extension of its relationship with Fox Sports in Central and Latin America as well as welcoming ESPN back as a partner in the region.

ESPN Star Sports Secure 3-Year Rights to La Liga in Asian Territories

 

ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) has reinforced its position as the Home of Soccer for fans in the Indian subcontinent and Asia by securing the live and exclusive rights to broadcast the Spanish La Liga for the 2012/13 to 2014/15 seasons, viagra on multiple distribution platforms in 18 markets across Asia.

Al Jazeera to Compete with Canal for Domestic French Ligue 1 Rights

Sportfive Award First Broadcast Rights to ’14 & ’16 Olympics to TV2

After it was handed the distribution rights for 40 European territories in a first ever move to do so by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Sportfive has completed its first broadcast deal for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics after awarding the Norwegian rights to TV2.

Sportfive’s dedicated team working on the project at the company’s international head office in Geneva, close to the IOC headquarters in Lausanne awarded the rights to TV2 who will show all events at the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014 and the Rio Games in 2016 across free-to-air, pay-TV, online and mobile platforms.

TV2 chief executive officer Alf Hildrum stated: “Norway has a long-standing and strong Olympic tradition, and the Norwegian public has traditionally demonstrated significant and enthusiastic interest in the Olympic Games.

Pirelli to Title Sponsor Qatar Round of FIM Superbike World Championship

Pirelli have been revealed as the Event Main Sponsor of the grand finale of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, seek which will be held this weekend in Qatar at the Losail International Circuit, herbal Doha.

The last round of the season will take the official name- Pirelli Qatar Round.

YouTube Expand Sports B’cast Commitment with Copa America Deal

YouTube has expanded its commitment to sports broadcasting by announcing it will stream the upcoming Copa America live to more than 50 countries around the world, showing all 26 Copa America matches live of the tournament running from July 1-24 in Argentina.

YouTube released a statement reading: “Fans will have access to all 26 matches including pool play, semi-finals, quarter-finals and the championship match, live streaming as they happen with exclusive-to-YouTube commentary, as well as a highlights from all the matches, goal compilations, full-game uploads and more.”

Earlier this year the Google-owned website confirmed it was in talks to air live games from the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League as well as European soccer leagues to broadcast coverage having successfully negotiated terms with Times India for rights to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In February, Gautam Anand, Google’s director of content partnerships for Asia-Pacific, told Bloomberg that YouTube would aim to carry more live sports from the second half of 2011, adding: “It is fair to say that there will be a lot more appealing sports content you’ll see on YouTube. We have ongoing conversations with pretty much everyone.”
