ESPN Star Sports Acquire Rights to Broadcast Spanish La Liga Soccer in Asia

ESPN Star Sports (ESS) has gained exclusive rights to Spain’s premier soccer league, La Liga, for the next three years.

Asia’s biggest sports content broadcaster has won the rights to beam live action from up to 380 La Liga games across eighteen countries in the continent from 2012 to 2015. The deal adds to ESPN Star Sports’ existing coverage of the English Premier League, Uefa Champions League, English FA Cup and England home matches, and major tournaments from the Asian Football Confederation.

The multi-platform deal includes standard, HD and 3D television broadcasting through its ESPN Star Sports and ESPN HD channels, in addition to online streaming through the ESPN Player and on mobile via Mobile ESPN.

Manu Sawhey, ESPN Star Sports’ managing director, said: “The presence of La Liga on our networks positions us as a leader in football content in Asia, and this programming is undoubtedly a tremendous value to our affiliate partners, advertisers and viewers.”

Phoenix Suns Sign Annexus Renewal

The Phoenix Suns have agreed a multi-year partnership extension with Annexus who will also become the NBA team’s apron signage partner.

The extended partnership maintains Annexus’ naming rights to the Annexus Practice Facility and Suns’ practice jerseys, erectile as well as to Club Annexus, physician a premiere hospitality space located on suite level A at US Airways Center.

Sky Reportedly Ready to Pay USD145m to Retain Super League Rights

Sky has reportedly agreed a record US$145m deal with the Rugby Football League (RFL) to retain the broadcasting rights for the Super League until 2016, ed pills according to British newspaper the Guardian.

Despite their claims the report suggested that a formal announcement is unlikely to be made until next month as agreements are yet to be finalised regarding the coverage of international matches, drugs the Challenge Cup and the Championship.

While the RFL did not confirm that a deal had been done, discount a spokesman said: “We are happy with the way negotiations are going with broadcasters and we hope they are drawing towards a conclusion.”

Endemol Reach Deal with SuperSport in Africa for Dublin Super Cup

A deal has been agreed between Endemol Sport and SuperSport to enter a three-year deal for the Dublin Super Cup, viagra sale the major new pre-season soccer tournament debuting this July with the first team squads of Manchester City, Inter Milan, Celtic and a League of Ireland XI competing at the Aviva Stadium.

The partnership sees SuperSport become the exclusive home of the Dublin Super Cup in South Africa and a further 50 territories across Sub-Sahara Africa from the inaugural 2011 tournament through to 2013. 

The latest deal follows similar agreements reached by Endemol with Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and with Fox Soccer for North America and the Caribbean. The Dutch company is also finalising agreements with broadcasters around the world, which will see live coverage of the inaugural 2011 Dublin Super Cup broadcast in over 130 territories across Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Further announcements will be made in due course.

Head of Acquisitions and Legal for SuperSport, Brandon Foot said that the broadcaster was very happy with the acquisition, stating: “This transaction yet again illustrates our commitment to our subscribers to provide them with world-class football content, throughout the calendar year and not only in-season.”

Gregg Oldfield, managing director of Endemol Sport, added: “We are proud to be partnering with a leading broadcaster like SuperSport to bring the Dublin Super Cup to soccer fans across Africa for the next three years. The launch of the annual Dublin Super Cup tournament follows a ten year deal struck in 2010 between Endemol Sport and The Football Association of Ireland (FAI).

NASL’s Armada FC Announces New Partners for Inaugural Season

Armada FC, sale Jacksonville’s new professional North American Soccer League team, discount have announced new partners for its inaugural 2015 season.

The Nike-produced kit includes Jacksonville-based grocer Winn-Dixie as the primary jersey sponsor, securing the jersey-front logo placement on all Armada FC uniforms. Area automotive group Key Auto Company’s logo will be featured on the right sleeve of the kit for an initial period of three years. Nike will also be providing all of the Armada FC’s equipment and merchandise including player sideline and fan wear through U.S. distributor We Got Soccer.

The Armada FC inaugural kit reflects the direction fans gave the club in selecting the team colors, incorporating the navy blue, white and gold colors the fans chose for the Armada FC’s logo and patch. The club’s primary uniform, which will be used for most home matches, is a navy blue jersey with a white chest band and a V-neck. Armada FC’s secondary kit mirrors the home kit, except that it is all white. The goalkeeper kit will incorporate a variety of change colors including green, purple and gold for use depending on the opposing team’s colors.

All uniforms feature the traditional Nike design, revolutionary stitching system and dri-fit technology. The Armada FC logo is on the upper-left chest area, closest to the heart, and the iconic Nike swoosh is on the upper right chest area. Prominently featured are Winn-Dixie on the front, Key Auto Company on the sleeve and the American flag, high on the left sleeve above the NASL logo.

UEFA Agree Scandinavian Rights Deals for Champs/Europa League

Having signed an agreement with Olympic rights distributor Sportfive last week for the 2014 Winter and 2016 Summer Games, Modern Times Group (MTG), has become the latest European broadcaster to renew its rights to show live Champions League soccer in Scandinavia.

MTG has secured rights to broadcast the UEFA Champions League competition until 2015 on free- and pay-TV, mobile devices and online, with Danish champions FC Copenhagen impressing in last year’s competition to make it through a group which included eventual winners Barcelona.

MTG, which has broadcast the competition since 1993, will broadcast all games on its Scandinavian TV channels and via video streaming service Viaplay.

In Sweden, Tuesday night games will air on free-TV channel TV10 and Wednesday matches on pay-TV station Viasat Football. Norwegian viewers can watch Tuesday’s games on pay-TV channel Viasat Football and the Wednesday ties on free-to-air Viasat 4. In Denmark, free-TV channel TV3+ will get the first pick of matches on both nights, while the second-choice games will be available on TV2 Sport, a joint venture between MTG and TV2.

Meanwhile, European soccer’s governing body UEFA has also announced an agreement which sees 365 Media secure the Icelandic rights to the competition, as well as the Europa League from 2012-15.

365 Media will deliver comprehensive coverage of each competition and will broadcast at least ten UEFA Champions League live matches and highlights in each match week on their family of channels (Channel 2 Sport, Channel 2 Sport 3, Channel 2 Sport 4, Channel 2 Sport 5 and Channel 2 Sport 6).

With regard to the UEFA Europa League, 365 Media will broadcast a minimum of ten live matches each match week, five from the early kick-off slot and five from the late kick-off slot.

ABC Supply to Sponsor Two A.J. Foyt Racing Entries for IndyCar Season

A.J. Foyt Racing have signed a deal with ABC Supply Co. Inc. to sponsor two cars for the next two years.

For the past 12 seasons, here AJ Foyt Racing has been a single-car team, but that will change in 2015 with the hiring of 23-year-old driver Jack Hawksworth, the 2014 winner of INDYCAR’s Tony Renna Rising Star Award. Hawksworth, of Bradford, England, will join veteran Takuma Sato, who returns for his third season with the ABC Supply Racing team. Their Dallaras will be powered by Honda engines and incorporate the Honda aerodynamic bodywork kits.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary as primary sponsor of AJ Foyt Racing next year, ABC Supply agreed to sponsor the No. 41 car and also extended their contract through the 2016 season.

“With ABC’s 10th Anniversary with Foyt Racing in 2015, and the 100th running of the Indy 500 coming in 2016, this is the perfect time for us to add a second car to the ABC Supply Racing team,” said Keith Rozolis, President and CEO of ABC Supply Co. Inc. “We are excited to have Takuma Sato back driving the No. 14 car, and we look forward to watching Jack Hawksworth show us what he can do in the No. 41 car.”

UEFA Award Israeli TV Rights for Euro 2012 to Charlton Ltd

The Israeli pay and free-to-air broadcast rights for the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine have been awarded by UEFA to Charlton Ltd. for all of next summer’s thirty-one matches.

The terms of the agreement will see the Tel Aviv-based media company broadcast live coverage of a minimum of nineteen of the matches on free-to-air television, complementing this across its pay channels with dedicated magazine programmes and daily highlights shows, as well as offering comprehensive internet and mobile services on a live and on-demand basis.

UEFA released a statement on their website, reading: “We’re delighted to extend our partnership with Charlton Ltd on the UEFA European Championships after our first successful collaboration for UEFA Euro 2008.

“This is great news for football fans in Israel, as they will enjoy a unique viewing experience with in-depth and extensive coverage of the tournament.”
