Twitter is a danger, states Pardew

The Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has told his players the danger of using social network sites and how they could be sued for breach of contract when they criticise the club.

Magpie players, including Joey Barton and Jose Enrique, have used Twitter to question the club’s transfer policy.

Pardew explained that “The problem I have with Twitter is that people are twittering in an emotional state.”

The Twitter debate has been circling for months and hit the headlines when Wayne Rooney used it is show his feelings to a fan.

  • Ex Liverpool Ryan Babel was fined when he expressed his displeasure with a referee on Twitter. Other culprits include Carlton Cole and Danny Gabbidon both at West Ham and Liverpool full back Glen Johnson.
