Der Rennkalender 2012 umfasst insgesamt 16 Rennen an acht Wochenenden. Der Saisonauftakt in der “Liga der Supersportwagen” steigt vom 31. März bis 1. April in der Motorsport Arena in Oschersleben.

MP & Silva Partners with LFP & Al Jazeera to Distribute French Ligue 1 Rights

TVG to Broadcast Horse Racing’s Cheltenham Festival

TVG, America’s Horseracing Network, will televise the four-day 2012 Cheltenham Festival, jump racing’s most prestigious event, live from scenic Cheltenham Racecourse in England’s idyllic Cotswold region, beginning next Tuesday.

The Festival includes 28 events that feature the sport’s leading horses, jockeys and trainers.

“The Cheltenham Festival is the Super Bowl of jump racing played out over four days,” said Tony Allevato, TVG Executive Vice President. “We are excited to present all the action and drama of this unique equestrian event for our audience, many of whom might be experiencing it for the first time.”

Highlighting the Cheltenham Festival is the Cheltenham Gold Cup, scheduled for Friday at 10:20 a.m. ET. Contested at a distance of 3 5/16 miles over a course that includes 22 fences, the race is expected to feature a matchup between defending champion Long Runand two-time (2007, ’09) winner Kauto Star. Long Run, a 7-year-old, is ridden by Ruby Walsh, while Kauto Star, a 12-year-old, is guided by Sam Waley-Cohen, two of jump racing’s most popular jockeys.

FIA Agrees TV Deal for Rally Mexico

The FIA has secured an agreement with the European Broadcast Union for the distribution of television coverage of this week’s Rally Mexico.

Both parties are discussing extending the agreement beyond the third round of the WRC.

A statement from the WRC said: “The FIA is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with the European Broadcast Union and its production house EPC for the distribution of the 2012 WRC Rally Guanajuato Mexico.

“Relying on a strong relationship with its members in rally’s territories and on an efficient international distribution network, the EBU has been retained for the next round of the FIA World Rally Championship and further discussions are planned to ensure consistent distribution and production for the remainder of the 2012 season.”

“In parallel, the FIA is currently assessing the numerous proposals received after the call for expression of interest it has launched to identify the best possible partner(s) to build a strong platform for the growth of the Championship from 2013 onwards.”

A decision on the outcome of the expressions of interest will be made on March 30. It is reported that close to 30 individuals and companies have made contact with the FIA to work in the WRC.

talkSport Switches Coverage Exclusively to 24 Hour Sport

talkSPORT will only air sports coverage from Aprill 2nd when it switches to a 24 hour sports station, allergy Seven days a week..

It will offer breaking sports news both day and night and increase its coverage of international sports, click including NBA, NFL and MLS updates, with correspondents around the globe.

talkSPORT has been extending its sports focused output over the past couple of years, with Richard Keys and Andy Gray joining the station in February 2011 to take over the mid morning 10am to 1pm slot and The Sports Bar joining the schedule last September.

The station is an official broadcaster of the Barclays Premier League and will broadcast every match of UEFA EURO 2012 live. Last autumn talkSPORT was the exclusive UK radio broadcaster of the 2011 Rugby World Cup, the first time a commercial station has been the sole holder of the rights.

From this Friday evening The Sports Bar will be extended to five nights a week, replacing The Week With George Galloway on Friday nights and from 2 April overnight programming will focus on sport.

San Francisco Giants Extends Radio Deal with KNBR

MLB’s San Francisco Giants has agreed a new seven-year contract with radio station KNBR to continue to broadcast all its games.

“The Giants are delighted to extend our partnership with KNBR Radio through 2018,” team President and CEO Larry Baer said. “KNBR has played an integral role in the success of our franchise and is our primary link to our fans during Spring Training, the 162‐game regular season, post‐season and the off‐season. It is only fitting that KNBR, one of the great sports stations in the country, continue its long‐standing and successful association with the Giants as we work to deliver the best baseball experience for our fans and the Northern California community.”

This season marks the 34th year that KNBR has broadcast the Giants on its air. The new deal will keep San Francisco on 680 AM through the 2018 season.

The games will continue to be called by Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Jon Miler,  Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper.

Time Warner Cable to Broadcast Los Angeles & San Diego High School Sports Events

Time Warner Cable and the Los Angeles City and San Diego Sections of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) have announced that they have entered into a 5-year agreement for Time Warner Cable to become the official content distributor of all Los Angeles City and San Diego high school sporting events beginning with the 2012 – 2013 season.

The deal, allergist supplemental to the landmark 2011, 15-year agreement for distribution rights to all CIF Regional and State Championship games, gives Time Warner Cable rights to distribute all LA City and San Diego Section high schools sports programming for games and matches through cable television, internet and mobile platforms.

The CIF has grown to become one of the largest youth sports organizations in the nation and has a proud heritage of providing equitable athletic competition for more than 1,500 high schools in California. The Los Angeles City Section includes all Los Angeles Unified School District schools and the San Diego Section includes all schools in San Diego County. Through this new relationship, Time Warner Cable brings additional elements to the overall high school athletic experience benefiting more than 757,000 student athletes involved in CIF.

“We are thrilled to begin this relationship between the CIF Los Angeles City Section and Time Warner Cable,” said Los Angeles City Section Commissioner Barbara Fiege. “We look forward to showcasing our student athletes, and providing this great opportunity for their parents, schools and communities.”

In addition to full length High School game coverage, Time Warner Cable’s Local Programming Channel SoCal 101 will feature weekly high school sports programming. Varsity Round-Up, a roundtable analysis and preview of the top games of the week, airs on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM, along with other seasonal interactive call-in shows that feature up-to date scores, highlights, interviews and more. 

Select games and other content from the CIF, and the LA City and San Diego Sections, are also expected to be available on Time Warner Cable Sports’ new Los Angeles based English and Spanish language Regional Sports Networks, which will launch in 2012.

The Sportsman Media Group erwirbt Medienrechte an der spanischen „La Liga“ für Deutschland und Öster

Die Münchner The Sportsman Media Group, cheap München, medic hat die kompletten Medienrechte an der Spanischen Fußballliga „La Liga“ für Deutschland und Österreich erworben. Das umfassende Rechtepaket beinhaltet die TV-, Internet- und Mobilfunkrechte.

Eine entsprechende Vereinbarung hat die Münchner Sportrechte und –marketing Agentur mit dem spanischen Medienkonzern Mediapro für einen Zeitraum von drei Jahren ab der Saison 2012/13 geschlossen. The Sportsman hält die entsprechenden Rechte bereits seit der Saison 2009/2010, dieser Vertrag läuft im Sommer diesen Jahres aus.

Thomas Krohne, CEO the sportsman, sagt: „La Liga ist seit vielen Jahren eine der besten Fußball-Ligen der Welt. Sie genießt im deutschsprachigen Raum erst recht seit dem Wechsel der deutschen Top-Spieler Özil und Khedira zu Real Madrid eine hohe Popularität. Seit dem Rechteerwerb 2009/2010 wird La Liga sehr erfolgreich auf LAOLA1.tv ausgestrahlt. LAOLA1.tv erzielte mit den Live-Übertragungen von Spielen der Spanischen Liga in den vergangenen Spielzeiten wiederholt Traumquoten im Internet. Für die neue Rechtelaufzeit werde the sportsman alle Möglichkeiten der Rechtverwertung prüfen, erläuterte Thomas Krohne, und kündigte entsprechende Gespräche mit Interessenten im Markt an. 

RTL, VRT & Telenet Get Europa League Rights in Belgium

RTL, clinic VRT and Telenet get media rights to the 2012–15 UEFA Europa League in Belgium replacing current content partners AB3 and EXQI Sport.

Free-to-air broadcaster RTL has won the French-language rights to the best match in each kick-off slot every matchweek. RTL will show both live matches as well as a highlights programme each matchweek on Club RTL.

In the Flemish language, national broadcaster VRT will screen live the best game of the matchweek on its channel Canvas, while pay operator Telenet will show a comprehensive selection of games every matchnight in both kick-off slots on its three Sporting Telenet-branded channels.

Both VRT and Telenet will broadcast highlights programmes each matchweek in the Flemish language.

Commenting on the award of UEFA Europa League media rights, UEFA said: “UEFA is delighted to continue its successful relationship with VRT in respect of the UEFA Europa League in Belgium and also to welcome RTL and Telenet into the UEFA Europa League family of broadcasters. Each of the three broadcasters has significant experience of working on the UEFA club competitions and their extensive broadcast knowledge and strong programming commitments will ensure significant exposure of the competition across Belgium.”

Rome Braves Agree Radio Deal with TTA Broadcasting

The Rome Braves, cure a Class-A minor league affiliate of Atlanta Braves has announced a a radio broadcasting agreement with TTA Broadcasting for the 2012 season.

Fans will be able to hear all regular season games on 95.7 FM The Ridge. J.B. Smith will handle play-by-play duties for all 140 games. 

95.7FM reaches northwest Georgia and northeast Alabama and is owned by TTA Broadcasting and the signal covers 9 counties. “We are happy to continue our relationship with the Rome Braves for the tenth consecutive season, health ” said General Manager Jim Bojo. We look forward to another great season at State Mutual Stadium.’ 

J. B. Smith will be behind the microphone for the play-by-play duties once again in 2012. It will be Smith’s third season as the “Voice of the Rome Braves.”

“We’re excited to broadcast Rome Braves baseball to Rome, Floyd County, and Northwest Georgia,” says Rome Braves General Manager Michael Dunn, “We truly enjoy our association with Jim Bojo and Randy Davis and are ready for the tenth season to begin.”
