The Australian Baseball League and the Australian Baseball Federation have agreed a deal with the Be the Influence: Tackling Binge Drinking campaign.

The campaign, which is funded by a AU$25 million government sponsorship initiative, aims to promote responsible drinking, particularly for young people.

Australian Baseball League CEO, Peter Wermuth, said he is delighted with the deal.

“The Australian Baseball League is very excited about the new partnership as it perfectly aligns with the Australian Baseball League’s goal of providing a fun, family-friendly environment at games,” he said.

Australian Baseball Federation CEO, Brett Pickett, said: “Aligning our National League and Senior National Championships with Be the Influence allows us to actively promote a positive health message to many young Australians, especially as the sport continues to grow in popularity and participation”

The Be the Influence campaign was launched in June 2012 is a part of the government’s national anti-binge drinking strategy.

The new sponsorship agreement is an alternative to alcohol sponsorship at Australian Baseball League games.

Alcohol may still be served at stadiums and events during the season.{jcomments on}
