Overview:

Summary

Represents senior level leadership in assisting with the direction, oversight and operation of all Columbus Blue Jackets Arena Management departments, Nationwide Arena, and related events.  Serves as General Manager in her/his absences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all CBJ Arena Management departments.

Manage energy savings which includes, monitoring, controlling, and conserving energy. May include metering, scheduling, etc.

Responsible for the training and development of all CBJ Arena Management staff through the use of modules and testing; maintain records of all training and track deficiencies, developing plans to address.

Serve as Safety Officer for Nationwide Arena; stay current with local and national security threats and distribute information as necessary; develop emergency preparedness and crisis management plans for the facility and oversee training.

Act as the primary liaison with local, state, and national regulatory agencies, local police and fire departments, and EMS to ensure facility adherence to required ordinances and laws.

Act as building liaison to contracted 24/7 security company; prepare manuals, policies, and training materials with contractor.

Develop scope of work and negotiate vendor contracts in support of building maintenance and supply requirements, and support of capital improvement projects.

Create and execute the Capital Expenditure Program, including developing, forecasting and overseeing the annual building operations budget; includes conducting analyses of activities, costs, operations and data to determine departmental progress toward stated goals and objectives.

Maintain archives of the facility’s record drawings and other operational records and oversee the coordination of building space allocation, layout and communication services.

Develop, direct and implement programs for accommodation of disabled guests according to ADA standards, including for events.

Maintain inventory program for all equipment within Nationwide Arena including stock and perishables by maintaining usable quantities.

Assist in providing oversight in the planning, management and coordination of all events held at Nationwide Arena, and provide onsite coverage for said events.

Inspect the building, interior and exterior, and rooms to ensure overall facilities readiness including cleanliness and ensuring that safety standards are met.

Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in facilities or sports management is required; Master’s degree is preferred; or five to ten years related experience and/or training in a major public assembly facility, experience planning major events, blueprints/construction drawings; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software, CAD, payroll, BMI and inventory management systems.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints and construction drawings.
