Accounting Manager – San Antonio Spurs

Overview:

Working under the direction of the Senior Director of Financial Planning this position is responsible for managing the company’s accounting practices and policies and the preparation of its financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This position will supervise a staff of 3+, monitor the daily activities of the staff; communicate effectively with management and provide timely information for use in overall business analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • – Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards for all SS&E – Franchises, including but not limited to journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, fixed assets and variance to budget analysis.
  • – Ensuring the appropriate processes and controls are in place and compliance with GAAP and league reporting requirements.
  • – Plan and prepare budget, projection and reporting process for all SS&E franchises, which includes meeting with management, uploading budget into accounting system, producing budget financial reports, and performing monthly reviews with management
  • – Manage general accounting staff as it relates to professional growth and development; while monitoring and assessing their work performance and providing consistent support and feedback.
  • – Manage and ensure timely completion of audits including annual financial statement and league audits (Basketball Related Income and Combined Financial Statements). Including preparing schedules requested by 3rd party auditors and tax professionals (financial, sales tax, and federal tax).
  • – Preparation of monthly financial reports, league reporting and assist in presentations for the bi-annual Board and Investor meetings.

Qualifications:

  • – Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • – 7-10 years accounting experience
  • – 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • – Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • – Experience with Microsoft Great Plains and FRx Report writing preferred and/or a like accounting software package.
  • – CPA or MBA a plus
  • – Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • – Must be able to prioritize work when given multiple projects.
  • – Ability to work in a dynamic team environment with all levels in the organization
