Platini to resign after CAS reject appeal

May 9, 2016

Michel Platini will resign as UEFA President after having his 6 year ban from football reduced to 4 years.

It’s after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) refused to overturn his ban.

Platini and former Fifa President Sepp Blatter were found guilty over a 2m Swiss Franc “disloyal payment” last year.

UEFA have since released a statement in reaction to the news revealing they will hold an Executive Committee meeting on the 18th May in Basel to discuss their next move.

The meeting will determine when the elective congress for the next UEFA President will be held.

UEFA also stated: “In the meantime, there will be no UEFA President appointed ad interim.”
