American sports apparel giant Nike has signed a sponsorship deal with the Dutch football association KNVB for next 12 years.

As part of the deal, Nike will not only sponsor the national team but also the youth teams and the women’s team too. In addition the youth leagues and street football in events like KNVB football days will play with Nike apparel.

Dermott Cleary, Vice President and General Manager of Nike Football, said: “We are very pleased to be able to extend our collaboration with the KNVB and the Dutch national team, and it is extra special because the KNVB is also celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. KNVB was one of Nike’s first major sponsor projects in football and that has helped us to become the world’s largest and most innovative football brand. We cannot wait to build on this success”

Bert van Oostveen; director of professional football at KNVB, added: “The partnership with Nike is the longest running sponsorship deal in the history of the KNVB, which of course is not for nothing that Nike is the biggest football brand in the world they not only committed to the Dutch national team, but for the entire Dutch football and everyone who loves our sport. We are very proud of the early renewal of our partnership.”
