FiveCurrents Become First Company to Produce Back-to-Back Olympic Ceremonies

March 7, 2014

California based creative and production firm FiveCurrents has officially become the first company in history to serve as Executive Producer for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of consecutive Olympic Games.

The landmark was achieved when three billion people watched the Opening Ceremony of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games on February 7.

With a business that is 90% global and 10% US, FiveCurrents is called upon to deliver complex live events in the world including LiveCity in Vancouver, Rio Reveillon Copacabana New Year’s Celebration in Brazil, and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games, amongst others.

Their productions are done with the purpose of “telling a story”.

FiveCurrents President Scott Givens said at a press release hosted by JTA in London: “Creating an Olympic Ceremony defines an image for a nation that lasts a lifetime.

“The world saw Russia’s distinct culture in its greatest glory during Sochi 2014, we are proud to have helped create a moment of national pride for the Russian nation.”

FiveCurrents was the Executive Producer for Rio 2016’s successful Olympic bid, responsible for producing the IOC Evaluation Commission’s visit to Rio, and all presentations, videos and creative support for the campaign.
