FINA Block Lance Armstrong from Swimming Event

FINA, discount the international swimming governing body, link have announced that disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong is to be refused entry to the Masters South Central Zone Swimming Championships in Texas, following reports that he planned to make a return to competitive sport at the event.

As US Masters events are not subject to USA or World Anti-Doping Agency regulations, it had been reported that Armstrong was to take part in the event, which takes place this weekend.

FINA have since moved to clarify the situation and released a statement, which stated they had written to the US MAsters swimming “requesting not to accept the entry of Mr. Lance Armstrong”.
