July 24, 2014

Leading car sharing network Zipcar has agreed to sponsor the Intelligentsia Cup Prairie State Cycling Series.

As part of the sponsorship, order Zipcar will provide an official pace car at many of the Intelligentsia Cup bike races, ed including the Chicago Criterium on July 26. In addition, help the leader throughout and the overall winner of the category will wear a custom-designed Zipcar green jersey.

The Intelligentsia Cup is a competitive bicycle race series in the Chicago metro area, featuring top-level professional and elite amateur athletes. Each race venue includes exciting racing complemented by healthy and fun family activities, a lifestyle expo, as well as food and beverage from local vendors. Today’s Category 2 and Category 3 racers are often tomorrow’s elite racers, and use Prairie State Cycling Series to develop their skills and make the jump to the top level of the sport.

“Zipcar has long been a supporter of the cycling community and we’re proud to be sponsoring this year’s Intelligentsia Cup,” said Charles Stephens, general manager of Zipcar Chicago. “Biking, riding and walking are a great complement to Zipcar and with Zipcar, members can get themselves and their bike, where they need to be.”

“The Intelligentsia Cup is excited to have Zipcar join us as a series sponsor,” said Tom Schuler, Intelligentsia Cup co-founder. “Many of our racers choose to not own cars and can find it difficult to get to races that are farther away from the city. Zipcar is the perfect solution for them.”
