Zambia to Bid for 2025 AFCON

March 16, 2017

Zambia is set to make a bid to host the 2025 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The southern African nation has never hosted the senior event, but recently held the Under-20 version.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, which the host country won, Zambia’s President Edgar Lungu said it would bid to stage the main event in 2025.

The bi-yearly tournament’s next three editions will be hosted by Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Guinea.

Zambia won the 2012 event, beating Ivory Coast 8-7 on penalties in the Final.
