World Sport Group (WSG), purchase an Asian sports marketing agency, has signed golf course design company Ogilvy Clayton, owned by 2006 US Open winner Geoff Ogilvy and fellow former player Mike Clayton, as a new client.

The company has dedicated itself to designing, building and preserving golf courses around the world.

WSG’s links in Asia – where the agency has regional offices in Beijing, Beirut, Delhi, Hong Kong, Mumbai and Tokyo – is hoped to find further business opportunities in the region.

Ogilvy said: “We pride ourselves on attention to detail and limit the number of projects we work on at any one time so we can dedicate the time necessary to building great work. It is such a philosophy we hope to bring to Asia and we look forward to working with World Sport Group.”

Clayton added: “This is a really exciting venture for us and we feel we have a lot to offer the industry with our experiences of playing golf around the world at the highest level on the finest golf courses. Asia is most definitely a place where we want to start work as we have both played there extensively and would like to give something back to the region.”

WSG manages a roster of top Asian sports events, with the company’s golf portfolio including the Barclays Singapore Open, the Thailand Open and the Indonesia Open. WSG is also the official media and marketing partner of OneAsia and the official commercial partner for the ASEAN PGA Tour.

WSG’s president of ASEAN and Australia operations, Mark Hardess, added: “We bring a wealth of experience in Asia to the table for Ogilvy Clayton and are confident we can assist them with their plans to expand here.”
