World Rugby Launches Rugby World Cup 2019 Host Broadcast Tender

By iSportconnect | November 12, 2015

World Rugby has launched the tender process for the appointment of host broadcast services for RugbyWorld Cup 2019 in Japan.

Rugby World Cup 2015 was the most viewed and engaged rugby event ever, reaching 780 million homes and inspiring new audiences in emerging rugby markets in record numbers worldwide.

Following a full review of broadcast operation strategy undertaken prior to England 2015 with the objective of keeping Rugby World Cup at the cutting edge of sports broadcasting innovation, the international federation will, for the first time, be taking control of the host broadcast output for its showcase event, working with a broadcast partner to deliver the world feed.

This strategy reflects World Rugby’s commitment to the highest and most consistent standards of broadcast output and its mission to grow the global rugby family.

A shortlist of companies will be selected from the expression of interest process to move forward to a full host broadcaster tender that will be independently managed and run on behalf of World Rugby by industry expert Tony Sinclair . A decision on the host broadcaster for Rugby World Cup 2019 will be made in March 2016 following detailed analysis.

Those wishing to receive the expression of interest document may apply via:RWC2019HostBroadcasting@worldrugby.org
