World Rowing Federation Ink BMW Partnership
July 12, 2013
The International Rowing Federation (FISA) have announced a new partnership with German car manufacturer, the BMW Group.
This two-year partnership, which was signed earlier in the week, brings together two very different organisations that have found unity in their key values and environmental objectives, particularly in World Rowing’s Clean Water initiative.
On the occasion of the third and final regatta of the 2013 Samsung World Rowing Cup III, in Lucerne, Switzerland, the car manufacturer will host their own finals of the BMW Clean Water Business & Diplomatic Regatta. Now in its third year, and sanctioned by World Rowing in support of its own Strategic Alliance with WWF, the World Wide Fund for Nature, this business to business regatta comprises a high-level forum on sustainable development, a rowing instruction course for the participating companies culminating in a 250m sprints race.
Speaking from Lucerne, FISA Executive Director Matt Smith said “BMW is a premium brand and a great match with World Rowing in terms of our values, market positioning – and in particular, our own Clean Water Alliance with WWF. This partnership with BMW gives our sport a powerful boost in our ability to communicate and educate our rowers and global audiences about the need to sustainably manage all fresh water resources.”
