The new women’s professional soccer league has secured a deal with FOX Sports that will see six regular season matches, two play-off matches and the championship aired live.

The season matches will be shown in July and the championship will air on 31 August.

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and FOX Sports Media Group announced the one-year deal on Thursday, five days after the start of the new eight-team league.

NWSL executive director Cheryl Bailey calls the TV deal ”important for the growth of the league.”

FOX Soccer will televise one game a week starting from 8 July and the teams who compete play in Boston, Chicago, Rochester, N.Y., Piscataway, N.J., and Washington, D.C., plus Kansas City, Portland and Seattle.
