Wimbledon Pulls Biggest Audience On Bonanza Day For Sports Viewers

The Men’s Final at Wimbledon on Sunday topped television viewing in the UK on a day packed with premium live viewing choice.

Novak Djokovic’s five-set win over Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final attracted a peak TV audience of 9.6 million on BBC 1.

England’s victory over New Zealand i the ICC Cricket World Cup final  was watched by a peak of 7.9 million on Channel Four and Sky.

The audience of the British F1 Grand Prix peaked at 2.5 million viewers on Channel Four.

Sky was the live TV rights holder for the Cricket World Cup and agreed to show the final on free-to-air television once England secured their place.

The highest TV sports audience of the year so far remains England’s semi-final defeat by the USA in the Women’s World Cup on 2 July, which had peak viewing figure of 11.7 million.
