Wilson Security Expands V8 Supercars Commitment
August 16, 2013
Wilson Security has expanded its support of V8 Supercars by agreeing a deal to acquire namings rights for this year’s Sandown 500.
Australia’s leading specialist provider of security, mobile patrols, emergency response, medical and healthcare services, Wilson Security has also been appointed as the Official Security Supplier and Security Partner to V8 Supercars from 2014, and will protect hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment and the public at V8 Supercar events.
Wilson Security has utilised V8 Supercars as its major marketing platform since 2006 and in 2013 is the major backer of both DJR run cars driven by Mostert and Blanchard as well the BJR entry driven by Wall.
The sponsorship deal was announced by Wilson Security’s CEO of Australia and New Zealand John McMellan today, with the prestigious Wilson Security Sandown 500 the first of the three Pirtek Enduro Cup races to be raced in Melbourne next month.
V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton said Wilson Security’s long-term commitment and extensive portfolio across the sport was a win-win for both companies.
“V8 Supercars is a universally appealing sport that enables a diverse range of sponsors to be involved at vastly differing levels. This can be as simple as corporate hospitality or on track signage to total event integration and ownership of events, up to the Championship itself,” Warburton said.
“In Wilson Security’s case this is an extension of their substantial commitment to the sport at a range of levels. They see great opportunities for their brand in a multi-platform sponsorship portfolio, adding their unparalleled security expertise to the mix.
“And like V8 Supercars they are proudly Australian based and managed, employing more than 3000 people across a diverse range of sectors.”
Wilson Security’s CEO of Australia and New Zealand John McMellan, said: “V8 supercars is renowned for technology and innovation driving performance. Interestingly these same principles also apply within our “RAPID” national patrols and alarm response fleet. All of these vehicles are equipped with a technology that is unmatched in the Australian market and provides leading levels of service to our customers.
“It is a logical extension to expand our on track support by integrating this with our own event and the first enduro for the season is clearly the best event for us to link all this together at.”
The Wilson Security Sandown 500 begins the long-distance season of V8 Supercars which also includes the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600.
