WADA Retains Confidence in McLaren Report

February 3, 2017

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has declared it has ”full confidence” in a report into Russian doping despite ”discrepancies” being highlighted with the report.

The independent study, carried out by lawyer Richard McLaren, implicated over 1000 Russian athletes in a state-sponsored doping program.  The program reportedly took place in over 30 sports between 2011 and 2015.

The report heightened calls for Russia to be banned from competing in and hosting major events.

WADA’s lawyers claim to have found ”certain discrepancies” within the report, but the Agency also said ”Wada retains full confidence in the evidence-based findings brought forward by Professor McLaren’s investigation”.
