VMMA & Belgacom Handed Belgian TV Rights

April 5, 2012

UEFA have revealed that VMMA and Belgacom have been awarded certain media rights for the 2012–15 UEFA Champions League in Belgium.

In the Flemish language, generic free-to-air broadcaster VMMA will show live the best match of the matchweek on its channel 2BE as well as a weekly highlights programme.

Meanwhile, generic pay operator Belgacom has been awarded all rights to the competition in both French and Flemish and will broadcast all games live as well as highlights each matchnight.

All rights have been granted on a platform-neutral basis to VMMA and Belgacom with the rights being exploited on television, advice mobile and the internet via www.2be.be and www.skynet.be respectively.

Commenting on the two agreements, UEFA said: “UEFA is delighted to continue its successful relationship with VMMA in respect of the UEFA Champions League in Belgium and would also like to welcome Belgacom to the UEFA Champions League family of broadcasters. Both broadcasters, through their programming commitments and production expertise, will ensure football fans in Belgium great match choice and access to the competition.”

UEFA would like to thank current content partners Telenet and BeTV for their continued commitment and dedication to the UEFA Champions League.

Further announcements regarding the sale of the remaining UEFA Champions League media rights packages – which include the best match live on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in French and highlights – will be made in due course.
