Vladimir Dmitriev Elected President of Tennis Europe

The chairman of Russian financial services company Vnesheconombank has been elected as the country’s first President of Tennis Europe.
Vladimir Dmitriev won the position by a margin of nine votes over Finland’s Matti Virtanen at the body’s annual general meeting in Sochi, Russia. Previous rounds of voting had eliminated Italian Luisanna Fodde and Predrag Stojcevic of Croatia from the running.
Dimitriev will serve an initial four-year term as President of the Switzerland-based organisation.
Tennis Europe is the largest regional association of the sport’s governing body, the International Tennis Federation.
