Vernon Davis Becomes Second NFL Player to Agree Fantex Deal

November 4, 2013

San Francisco 49ers Vernon Davis has agreed a deal with brokerage firm Fantex that will see fans offered the opportunity to buy stock in the player.

Fantex will pay the 49ers tight end $4 million up front, in exchange for 10% of his future income from his playing contract and sponsorship endorsements. The San Francisco-based brokers hope to sell stock in the player to fans.

Davis’ contract with the 49ers, signed in 2010, is worth $6 million a year.

This news comes weeks after Arian Foster, who plays for the Houston Texans, agreed a deal with Fantex worth $10 million in return for 20% of future earnings.
