Asia’s leading international football tournament will kick-off in the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on 9 January 2015 and culminate in Sydney’s 84,000 capacity Stadium Australia on 31 January 2015.

Matches will also be played at Brisbane Stadium, Canberra Stadium and Newcastle Stadium during the 16-team tournament.

AFC Asian Cup 2015 Organising Committee Chairman, HRH Prince Abdullah Ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah, said: “The AFC is very impressed with the standard of facilities in Australia and we look forward to seeing the best football Asia has to offer being played out on the pitches.

“From the opening game in Melbourne to the final in Sydney and the important games in Brisbane, Canberra and Newcastle, we are pleased football fans from different regions will get to see all of the best teams. I am sure the AFC Asian Cup 2015 will have a tremendous impact in Australia and help to further grow football.”

Michael Brown, CEO of the AFC Asian Cup 2015, had exclusively told iSportconnect: “New South Wales is providing the most funding for the tournament because it wanted to secure the final and semi finals, while Victoria wanted the opening game, so we will chose two stadiums in New South Wales and one in Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne.”
