The United Soccer League (USL) has extended its partnership with data provider Opta.

Opta will now become the official data partner of the USL League One, in addition to its existing partnership with the USL Championship.

The USL is sanctioned by the U.S. Soccer Federation as the country’s Division 2 pro league beneath Major League Soccer.

As part of the agreement, Opta will provide data services for all regular and post-season games in the USL Championship and League One. The data will be available on the USL League One website, including player heat maps and live statistical updates.

USL senior vice president, Lizzie Seedhouse said: “We are pleased to expand our partnership with Opta. Their expertise in sports data offers serves as a valuable resource to our players, coaches, teams, and most importantly, our passionate fans who make this league possible. We look forward to continuing our work together.”

Richard Crouch, vice president of rights acquisition data at Perform Content, said: “We are committed to supporting the growth of soccer in North America and are excited to a part of this brand-new competition. We look forward to working closely with the USL on the inaugural League One season.”
