Unibet Unveiled as Official Betting Partner for Standard Liege
October 16, 2012
Belgian soccer club Standard Liege has appointed Malta-based online gambling operator Unibet Group as it’s official betting partner in a new sponsorship deal.
Unibet revealed that the agreement will see its logo displayed on pitch-side advertising boards during every one of the team’s home games at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne ground for a total of five minutes while branding is also set to appear on communications materials distributed by the ten-time Belgian champion.
Standard Liege was established in 1898 and was last crowned domestic champion as winner of the Jupiler Pro League in 2009 after triumphing in a two-legged playoff against rival Anderlecht. Unibet intends to premiere in-stadium betting at the club’s 30,000-seat ground later this season, which would be a first for Belgian soccer.
Dennis Marien, Belgium Communications Manager for Unibet, said: “Standard is a very particular case in the universe of Belgian football.”
“The club possesses the biggest crowd of supporters in Belgium and the most fantastic, which, moreover, is spread throughout the country. We are carving, then, a prominent place in the south of the country where Unibet still has fine opportunities for growth and that will also create for us additional visibility in Flanders.”
