UK Athletics and British Triathlon Added to Sports Performance Masterclass Panel

iSportconnect, the world’s largest global private network of sports business executives, is delighted to announce Neil Black, Performance Director of UK Athletics and Brendan Purcell, Performance Director of British Triathlon as the latest confirmed panellists for the Sports Performance Masterclass, in partnership with Elite Performance Partners.

They will be joining Les Reed, Executive Director at Southampton Football Club and Ged Roddy, Director of Youth at the Premier League, who were previously announced as panellists for the second edition of the event that will take place on 26th April.

Neil Black was appointed to the role of performance director at UK Athletics in 2012. He has been a pivotal figure in the success of Britain’s top athletes for 20 years.

Black’s previous roles at UKA included Chief Physiotherapist and Sports Medicine and Science Lead. Neil has worked with the Governing body and athletes attending most championships since the 1992 Paralympic Games.

Athletes Neil has worked with closely towards global success over the past 20 years include Sally Gunnell, Roger Black, Iwan Thomas, Kelly Holmes, Denise Lewis, Kelly Sotherton and Mo Farah.

Brendan Purcell joined British Triathlon as the Performance Director in January 2013. He is responsible for both the Olympic and Paralympic programmes at British Triathlon.

He previously was the National Performance Coach (Sprint) at the British Canoe Union from October 2008. Other previous roles include two years with Diving Australia.

Brendan competed to World Championship level in the Men’s K4 canoeing for Australia. He is a qualified physiotherapist, but favoured coaching as his career developed.

The iSportconnect Sports Performance Masterclass successfully debuted in London in 2015 with senior sport performance professionals from across the sport industry attending what was an informative and thought-provoking event.

As last year, it will be expertly moderated by David Slemen, Managing Director of Elite Performance Partners, the recruitment business specialising in placing senior leaders and expert practitioners into elite sports teams, governing bodies and federations.

The event will once again gather industry professionals to discuss and share best practice on sports performance and discuss the latest issues in the sector.
