UFC Secure new Latin America Coverage with Televisa Broadcast Deal

May 31, 2013

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has signed a broadcast deal with Televisa Networks that will see UFC aired in 20 Spanish-speaking countries across Latin America.

Televisa will launch a new, cheap 24-hour network dedicated entirely to UFC, medicine including live events.

UFC chairman Lorenzo Fertitta described the deal as a ‘game changer’ and added: “We are giving millions of fans across the region complete access to all our live events and programming for the first time.

“UFC is the fastest growing sports organization in history. With the strength of Latin America’s premier media group, erectile Televisa, the UFC channel will become the fastest-growing sports network in television history.”

The channel will be subscription-based and is expected to launch towards the end of 2013.

More than 35 live events will be broadcast a year, including past fights, Pride, WEC and Strikeforce events.

One country that is included in the deal is Mexico, a nation the UFC has looked to tap into, in conjunction with Cain Velasquez’s heavyweight title defence.

Brazil is not included in the Televisa deal because an agreement already exists with Globo.
