Two Bids to Host Ice Hockey Championships 2021
January 20, 2017
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has announced that Finland will face off against a dual bid from Belarus and Latvia for the right to host the 2021 Men’s World Championships.
Finland has proposed the city of Tampere and its 13,000-seater stadium to host the event.
The Belarus and Latvia bid would see the championship take place in the capital cities of the two respective countries, Minsk and Riga.
The tournament will take place in May 2021, with the IIHF due to announce the winning during their Annual Congress Meeting in May 2017.
Finland most recently hosted the event in 2013, with the city of Tampere having hosted the competition four times previously.
This year’s event will be co-hosted by France and Germany.
