Twitter to livestream Melbourne Cup
October 13, 2016
Social media platform Twitter is set to live stream the 2016 Emirates Melbourne Cup after striking a deal with Australia’s Victoria Racing Club (VRC).
The horse race is set to begin on November 1 at the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne and starts at 3 p.m. local time. Coverage will start half an hour before this, buy cialis including pre-race and post-race analysis.
“Live is at the core of everything we do. If you think about a breaking news story or a sports story, that moment is celebrated on Twitter, that’s where people will celebrate first as they know that’s where like-minded people will be and their message will go out to the whole world,” said Alex Trickett, Head of Sport at Twitter UK.
Video clips of the race and additional footage will also be available on the official Twitter account of the Flemington race course.
Twitter have recently won the rights to stream the National Football League games (NFL) as well as some exclusive live programming with the National Basketball Association (NBA), but this is the first time the social media company will live stream a non-US sporting event.
