The deal covers promotional opportunities throughout the football, men’s basketball and ice hockey seasons, during which Toyota will receive radio and internet promotions.

Toyota will also sponsor a ‘Power Play Community Donation’ program during the hockey season, which will see the donate $250 for each Wolverine power play goal to FIRST Robotics of Michigan.

The car manufacturer has a large technical centre near the University’s Ann Arbor campus and has around 1200 employees from the area, many of whom are Michigan alumni.

Jeff Makarewicz, Vice President of the Corporate Strategy Office at Toyota Technical Center, said: “The Toyota Technical Center is a long-time supporter and partner of the University of Michigan, particularly its engineering program. This sponsorship allows us to remind Michiganians of our large, supportive presence in the state, while assisting local school children through FIRST Robotics of Michigan.”

Hunter Lochmann, Chief Marketing Officer for the University of Michigan Athletic Department, added: “We are pleased to partner with another Ann Arbor-based business in Toyota. Both Toyota and Michigan Athletics share a long history of supporting the Ann Arbor community, and we are excited that this partnership will support FIRST Robotics of Michigan through the Power Play Community Donation program.”
