Spurs Sign Up With China Video App Douyin

September 7, 2018

Tottenham Hotspur has become the first English Premier League football club to launch on China’s social media video app, Douyin.

Spurs will use the platform to engage with millennials, uploading content featuring key players such as Harry Kane and Dele Alli plus match highlights, goals and behind-the-scenes footage.

During the first quarter of this year, Douyin was the sixth most downloaded app in the world ahead of Instagram and Facebook. The London club has an estimated 45 million fans across China with Official Supporters’ Clubs in Beijing and Shanghai.

Donna Maria-Cullen, Tottenham’s Executive Director, said: “We are constantly looking at innovative ways in which we can further engage our young and growing fanbase. The progress of our team on the pitch in recent years, coupled with the stand-out performances of our players at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, has led to increased demand for unique Club content in line with the growing popularity of football in the region.”
