Ticketmaster to Sell One Million Tickets for Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games

Ticketmaster has been appointed to sell around one million tickets for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The company, abortion a leading expert in online ticket sales, allergist has been appointed as the Official Ticketing Services Provider for the Games.

Ticketmaster successfully sold over 10.9 million tickets for London 2012 and has also delivered strategies for Rugby World Cups and ICC World Twenty20 cricket tournaments.

Glasgow 2014 Deputy Chief Executive, unhealthy Ty Speer, said: “We are delighted to be working with Ticketmaster, with its proven experience and expertise in delivering ticketing for previous Commonwealth Games and other major high profile events, as we prepare to offer around a million tickets for sale. 

“It is incredibly important we have a services provider which can successfully meet our commitment to deliver outstanding Games with packed stadia and through a fair and simple ticketing strategy.”

The Glasgow 2014 ticketing sales programme launches this August and Ticketmaster will be responsible for the online and telephone sales along with venue ‘box office’ outlets at Games time.

Commonwealth Games Scotland Chairman, Michael Cavanagh highlighted the importance of getting the ticketing strategy correct and ensuring home fans come to the Ganmes.

Cavanagh said: “The positive impact of a passionate home crowd on the performance of athletes cannot be underestimated. It is therefore great news that a ticket agency of Ticketmaster’s calibre has been appointed to manage this process.”

Ticketmaster join Glasgow 2014’s sponsorship family that includes Longines, SSE, Emirates, Harper Macleod, Search Consultancy, Ernst & Young, Atos, Dell, Toshiba TEC, A.G. Barr, NVT Group, RGS, Trespass and Riedel.
