August 28, 2013

Headphones manufacturer Skullcandy have announced their first ever soccer player to become their ambassador with Paris Saint-German defender Thiago Silva signing onto the American brand.

The 28-year-old defender, who recently won the French Ligue 1 championship with PSG and led Brazil to its third consecutive FIFA Confederations Cup title, is the latest addition to the ambassador team which also includes NBA players Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Derrick Rose, Andre Iguodala and the NFL’s Stevie Johnson.

“Skullcandy has lived and breathed action sports since we were born back in 2003. It’s now a decade into our growth and we are extremely excited to be able to bring this passion to the world’s largest sporting audience, with the announcement of Thiago Silva as our first Skullcandy football brand ambassador. Not only is he arguably the world’s best central defender, but his leadership and charisma on and off the pitch make him a natural fit for our brand. As a Brazilian, music is a natural part of his life and we look forward to supporting Thiago in his bid to become a World Champion on home soil next year,” said Feliciano Robayna, Skullcandy’s EMEA Sports Marketing Manager.

Skullcandy gave the Brazilian captain a customized headphone created exclusively for him on the eve of the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013, and a fresh set for the 2013/14 European club season.

“I’m passionate about music and Skullcandy is admired by all players for having great products. I love my new custom headphones and am proud of this new partnership,” says Thiago Silva.
