Sydney Interested in 2022 Commonwealth Games

March 20, 2017

The Australian city of Sydney has become the latest prominent location to declare an interest in hosting the 2022 edition of the Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Games Federation recently stripped Durban of hosting rights, and are now actively seeking a new host.

Melbourne and Perth have already indicated a readiness to host, as have a number of English cities including Birmingham, Liverpool and London.

With Gold Coast holding the 2018 event, it is unclear as to whether Australia may be permitted to host two consecutive games; but Sydney does have recent pedigree after successfully taking the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
