Swindon Town Ownership Battle Settled

July 2, 2014

A High Court judge has ruled that Lee Power’s takeover of Swindon Town Football Club was lawful and carried out in the correct manner.

Power took over the club with his Swinton Reds 20 firm from Jed McCroy’s Seebeck 87 company in December, but McCrory disputed the move, prompting legal action.

After losing the battle though, McCrory, who was not present in court, will have to pay £50,000 in legal costs after Nicholas Strauss QC ruled that Power was the majority shareholder with immediate effect.

Power said: “It’s put a squeeze on the football club financially over the past three or four months.

“A number of sponsors pulled away and the season tickets more or less stopped. Over the past two months we’ve sold just over 100.”

Power also added that he had “no doubt” that he owned the club.
