Sunderland CEO Margaret Byrne Resigns Due to Adam Johnson Case

English Premier League club Sunderland have announced that chief executive Margaret Byrne has stepped down in relation to the case involving former player Adam Johnson.

In a statement Byrne admitted that allowing the player to continue to represent Sunderland was a “serious mistake”.
