Sports Industry at the FIFA Master 11th Edition graduation events in Switzerland

On 14th July 2011, the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) will welcome representatives from the sports industry to Neuchâtel, Switzerland, for its annual ‘FIFA Master Conference’. During a day of events in Neuchâtel, the 28 FIFA Master postgraduate students, who represent 23 different nationalities, will present their completed group research dissertations to a specially invited audience.

2011 postgraduate research topics include Female Fans, the Olympics, Club licensing, sporting events, bidding, insurance in football and the relationship between music and sport. Following the successful presentation of their research, the postgraduates will move to a graduation ceremony on Friday 15 July at ‘Salle du Grand Conseil’ at the Château in Neuchâtel . This year’s patron is the FIFA Secretary General Mr Jérôme Valcke and Mr. Massimo Busacca is the guest of honour. Mr Jérôme Valcke will join the select group of past edition patrons who include names such as Alexander Popov, Michel Platini and Sergey Bubka.


The FIFA Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport is organized by CIES (International Centre for Sports Studies) in partnership with three distinguished universities: De Montfort University, Leicester (England), SDA Bocconi School of Management, Milan (Italy) and University of Neuchâtel, Neuchâtel, Switzerland, and endorsed by FIFA. Each year the course takes its postgraduates on a unique journey through three different European Countries.


As the reputation of the FIFA Master grows each year, the course attracts applicants from new parts of the world, allowing the alumni network to stretch across the entire globe. Around 90% of the 300 alumni are placed in different sectors of the sports industry across the 5 continents.


Postgraduates on the forthcoming 2011-2012 edition of the FIFA Master will start their academic journey in September at De Montfort University, Leicester (UK).
