SportAccord Convention ‘Disappointed’ With Dubai Withdrawal; Talks Underway for 2016 Host City

SportAccord Convention has confirmed that talks are underway to find another host city for the 2016 convention after Dubai withdrew from hosting the event on Thursday. 

Commenting on the announcement from Dubai, SportAccord Convention president Francesco Ricci Bitti expressed his disappointment at Dubai’s decision but says they are working on alternative options. 

“SportAccord Convention is very disappointed that the Dubai Sports Council has decided not to host the 2016 Convention,” he said. 

“Our understanding was that we were very close to an agreement. However, Dubai is not the only option for 2016 and we will start working immediately to secure an outstanding location for next year’s meeting.”
