Sport 24 Extends Deal to Offer Formula 1 Coverage on Flights

January 16, 2014

In-flight sports channel Sport 24, try produced and distributed by IMG Media, has announced it has added live coverage of the FIA Formula One World Championship to its list of sports for the next three years.

The extended agreement, which runs through to the end of the 2016 season, will include even more content than before as alongside every race being shown live, there will also be the option to feature practice rounds and qualifying from each Grand Prix.

Richard Wise, Senior Vice President, IMG Media said: “We are delighted to have renewed our deal with Formula One Management for the next three F1 seasons and are particularly pleased that we will now be able to show each Grand Prix in its entirety should the schedules allow. This is excellent news for F1 fans as it ensures they will be able to watch more premium content of their sport when they are travelling, be it by air or at sea.”

“With other new content deals in place for 2014 and more major airlines due to trial the channel before the end of the year, this is an exciting time for Sport 24.”

Other live action to be shown during 2014 on Sport 24 also includes coverage from the Barclays Premier League, all four golf majors and all four tennis Grand Slams, as well as the ATP 1000 events and Finals, the Bundesliga and the Giro d’Italia.
